Over two hundred delicious bacon and egg rolls were served. There were many fathers, grandfathers and friends in attendance. Some of the blokes completed The Tell Them From Me Survey on line. Some blokes had a surprise cup of tea with their breakfast. Green jelly crystals were accidentally substituted for sugar. No harm done and there was much merriment over the mix up. We value the input of our blokes in supporting the education of the children that they care for. We know that outcomes for learning are enhanced when all the family is involved. Thank you to the small army of staff who cooked and served furiously for an hour and a half. They had a great time particularly making those important connections with families. TELL THEM FROM ME PARENT SURVEY We need your feedback! We need to know what you think about our school. We want to ensure that parents have input into the way our school supports your children. We value honest and candid responses. We are committed to improving our school-wide practices in every facet of our school’s operation. The partnership between families and our school is vital to ensuring that students maximise their learning and develop to their capacity. Please let us know what you think by completing the survey. Presented by Kylie Bowditch of the P&C. THE STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) CAMP EXPERIENCE On Monday the 29 August Clare and I went to a STEM camp. It’s Wagga Wagga. about 15 minutes away from When we arrived there we had to line up and they gave us all our things that we were going to need like our sheets, towels, pillows and then they gave us a stationery set and a diary so we could write things down in as we go. Once we got given our stuff we went and picked our cabins and made our beds then headed back to the hall to get told which stations we would be doing. The first station that Cootamundra did was drawing. At the drawing station we learnt about different colours and how to draw groups and gatherings. The second station was build your own robot. At this station we got given two big bags of Lego and a motor then we went step by step until our robot was completed, it was great fun. The third station we completed was fractals, firstly our teacher explained what fractals are then, she showed us how to make the fractals, then we did it after her. Fractals are pop out cards. And the last station was learning about engineers, and what they do. After dinner we played spot light then we all had showers and headed back to or cabins, and had an hour and a half till we had to go to bed so we just played hide and go seek. The next morning we had to wake up at 5.40 am for a 6.30 am breakfast. After breakfast we all headed over to the buses. We were heading to Canberra for the day. Firstly we arrived at Questacon and had morning tea. Once we were finished we were allowed to go to Questacon. We looked around and it was pretty cool, I went off the free fall slide and it was so scary. After that we went to a place where we learnt about space. We watched a movie about it that was 3D. The last thing we did in Canberra was go to Telstra Tower. Once we got up the top we looked down and we could see so much. After a long day in Canberra we stopped at Yass MacDonald’s and it was yum. Once we got back to the cabins we all fell asleep straight away. The next morning we got woken up at 7.25 am for a 7.45 am breakfast. And that whole day we did a few activities and my favourite was the one where we had to build our own lap top. The rest of the activities were basketball and find DNA out of strawberries. Then we had free time until lunch. After lunch we got on the bus to head home. Over all it was one of the best camps that I have been to and I would definitely do it again. For younger students, missing the basic skills often leads to learning problems later on and for older student’s absenteeism often interferes with academic progress. Friendships with other students are also easier if your child attends school regularly. The law in NSW states that all children between the ages of 6 and 15 years are required to attend school. Sickness or injury, attendance at a special religious ceremony or a serious family situation are satisfactory and provide reasons for non-attendance. Please let the school know why your child is not at school an explanation on your child’s return to school. Birthdays, haircuts, pension days, Mondays etc are not satisfactory reasons for absence from school. Also try whenever possible to arrange your holidays in school vacation times. Please contact your school principal if you need any help or have any questions.
