3. T ufts, playing against Harvard in 1875. Players
in an 1869 Rutgers-Princeton game played
more according to soccer rules, whereas the
Jumbos and the Crimson ran with the ball and
tackled in true American style.
As a Jumbo, you supported and contributed to
many teams, athletic and otherwise. You lived,
studied, or worked together. Boosted each
other’s spirits. Accomplished a great deal to
be proud of. And in the process, you forged bonds of
loyalty to each other and to Tufts.
