Steve and Stephanie from Team Scream Talk About Fiberglass Team Scream is known for big air, crazy saves, nice wheelies, and overall spectacular freestyles. Often, these also mean lots of broken fiberglass panels. Thankfully, we are one of the few teams that make their own fiberglass bodies, and we also fix broken panels not only for our team, but for other teams as well. Making a body from scratch, like the ‘57 Chevrolet, could take a single person up to a week. You have to prep the mold with mold release wax, then apply the gel coat (there are different colors of gel coat, for example we apply green gel coat for Avenger, or yellow for Wrecking Crew). Once the gel coat is dry, you can start laying the fiberglass, after mixing the resin with the hardener. We usually do 3 to 4 layers of fiberglass for each panel. It usually takes a day to dry, and then we can pop the parts out of the molds, and start the trimming and grinding to ensure that the edges are smooth and that the parts are ready to be painted. Final step is the painting, which we also do ourselves. We use some stencils for the flames or for some other details, but other than that, Steve does it free hand. The longest body to paint would be Wrecking Crew, because there is a lot of masking involved and all the shapes need to be even. But, we focus too much on the big shows, let's slow down a bit and focus on the grassroots of monster truck racing: independent promoters. Bloomsburg, Englishtown, Wildwood; these are perfect examples of great, top-notch independent promoters that put on a great show several times throughout each year. I'm here to bring you some special coverage from these great independent shows during the summertime. I'll be attending such shows as: Englishtown, NJ (3 shows), Wildwood, NJ, Millville, NJ, and Plymouth Meeting, PA. My summer schedule is jampacked with amazing shows! Here is a little detail about each event: Englishtown, NJ - Old Bridge Township RACEWAY PARK - Every year, the great people at Old Bridge Township RACEWAY PARK put on three great monster truck shows for the great E-Town fans. This program has been around for nearly 20 years at ETown, so that track has a history of great performances. In 2012, it'll be bigger and badder than ever before! With three car stacks on each side of the dragstrip, each of the three big shows will feature drag racing down the sides of the track over the car stacks, and coming back up to finish it off. Then, after that's all over, the monsters come back for freestyle. Usually they'll have two trucks come out at one time and do a dualfreestyle, then the top 4 performers in freestyle will come back out for an encore performance, which is always loads of fun! This year will feature the debuts of Avenger, Brutus, Spike Unleashed, Wrecking Crew, and Ready-Lift BAD HABIT to E-Town, and it will be huge! The shows will be on May 19th, July 18th, and September 15th, so come out to all of them to get the full and great experience of monsters in E-Town! Plymouth Meeting, PA - Lulu Shriner's Arena - This will be my first year attending this show, but since it has a great reputation of awesome performances and since KSR Motorsports is the promoter, I can certainly guarantee that it will be off-the-charts! This year, it's a two-show deal, all in one day, which is May 26th. The two headliners of the show will be the big bad monsters Viper and the all-new XDP Diesel, making its second appearance at that show, right after breaking it in in Troy, PA. It will a be an allfreestyle show with each truck doing an exhibition run, thrilling the crowd of just about a thousand people, and making a lasting impression on all the great fans! I'm very excited to be attending another KSR Motorsports production, and I recommend you do too! Millville, NJ - New Jersey Motorsports Park - For the first time EVER, Nationwide Motorsports will bring the monster trucks to the worldfamous NJ Motorsports Park! It will be a very huge deal, as four top-notch, historical independent trucks will attack the course in a wheelie, racing, and freestyle bonanza! The show will feature young gun Jeremy Slifko in Backdraft, Eradicator, Towasaurus Wrex, and Illuminator! It will be a very fun time, as the four monsters will go all out for the awesome southern Jersey fans! Wildwood, NJ - Thunder on the Beach - As many of have seen and heard about, this will be the 15th year that the big, bad monsters will return to the historical Wildwood beach for another incredible edition of Thunder on the Beach! With the return of many trucks and an 8truck line-up, this year will no doubt be a memorable one, as it promises to be the biggest and baddest year ever in T.O.T.B. history! ThunderMoto will be going all out to pull out all the stops, bringing Summit Racing BIGFOOT #18, Avenger, Brutus, Stone Crusher, Monster Magic, Backdraft, Eradicator, and Gun Slinger, as well as a very huge and newer designed course. It's gonna be big, so be sure to come out and cheer em' on! I'm very excited for this summer's independent show line-up. With all the hype about the Path of Destruction tour, and the amazing line-up of independent shows happening in our area, 2012 promises to be the biggest and the baddest year in monster truck history, and you can count on that! In 2012, the lead source of The Monster Report’s information, Monster Truck Collectors, went down and the report was unable to be posted all season long. But now, with an all new re-designed website for 2012, and this new TMR format, we are ready to get back into the swing of things and get cranking as the summer season gets under way. So get ready, because this is THE MONSTER REPORT. Meet The Writers Brian Sciro Mark Albert Daniel Donnelly Stephanie Cotnoir Brian is the creator of The Monster Report.
