World of Robotics - Jack Burrus
Give your students an edge on the future
with educational and entertaining assembly programs that show them why math and
science matters beyond the textbook ! Jack Burrus brings the world of robotics to life
with captivating images and interactive demonstrations guaranteed to engage students at
any grade level. Your students will be amazed as they learn how robots are used today,
and the much larger role they will play in our future. Student volunteers will help
demonstrate a computer-programmable, mobile robot using its electronic voice, multisensors, arm, wrist, and hand. Robot pets with video vision, vocal recognition artificial
intelligence and balancing sensors will “wow the audience with their playful antics. In
addition, a robo-one class humanoid robot will show its all-too-human moves. Upper
grade level students will also gain insights into the technologies that have shaped the

Program Description:
The Bug Chef creates culinary
masterpieces using ants, grasshoppers, water bugs, centipedes, scorpions and
their kin. Yes, he actually prepares a variety of insect dishes for the children
to try! The children also learn all about insects as well as several cultures
that rely on this form of food for survival. At the conclusion of each demo
samples of at least one dish is offered to the entire crowd. Audience

Program Description: What is Mathitude? It’s a great
attitude toward math! In this interactive and exciting show students have a
blast by using volunteers and role playing to get your students excited about

Program Description:
A REAL, FULL-SIZE Hot Air
Balloon at YOUR SCHOOL! This program is a unique, educational program
for elementary and secondary schools that combines the natural excitement
of hot air balloons with a wealth of teaching experience. Several formats of
this program are available. The program includes an outside or inside
inflation as well as two 30-40 minute education session assemblies indoors.
Many subjects are covered including the history of ballooning and aviation
the effect of weather, the mechanics of modern ballooning and licensing.
During the live demonstration the students see the balloon in

Exploring Habitats of the World
Program Description:
In a 1-hour interactive slide performance,
author/illustrator Sheri Amsel will show students grasslands, deserts, mountains and
rainforests through her colorful book illustrations and photographs. They’ll see
amazing habitats and wild animals and how Sheri turns them into full color book
illustrations. Then, in smaller classroom sessions, Sheri will teach students to illustrate

story of New York City’s water supply through the elemental beauty of mask & puppet

Henry Hudson & The River That
Discovered Him
Program Description:
This large-scale performance fuses the visual
enchantment of mask & puppet theatre with live music in a special production for
New York’s Quadricentennial celebration. Inspired by the events surrounding the
1609 voyage of Henry Hudson on the river that now bears his name, this drama is a
coming-of-age tale of two boys. Teme Gwitett is the grandson of a Mohican sachem
living on the great river called Maheakanuk. John Hudson is the son of Henry & crew
member aboard the Half Moon. Their encounter represents the meeting of two worlds.

Turtle Island Medicine Show
This show features giant puppet figures, mask
characters & live music in a contemporary fable about global warming. The
performance combines a Lenape Indian origin story with a basic introduction to
climate change. The show continues with the origins of fossil fuels and how humancaused climate change may increasingly destabilize our “Turtle Island” home.

Bash the Trash Assembly Show
For 20+ years, Bash the Trash has been offering
science-based environmental performances that entertain, educate and inspire! The Bash
the Trash Assembly Show transforms recycled and reused stuff into strange musical
instruments such as the styrolin, the balloon flute, and the notorious straw oboe. Students
learn environmental issues while discovering the convergence of science and art. This

Sustainable Storytelling
Sustainable Storytelling enhances the Bash the
Trash experience by fostering environmental awareness through literacy. Our master
storyteller will weave an eco-web of words accompanied by bewitching music on

are shaped to the interest and level of each group. All dance workshops begin with a
short physical warm-up. The participants are introduced to several practical dance

Broadway Style: A Vocal Workshop
Program Description: This interactive workshop pairs a Broadway
performer with a professional accompanist and, together, they teach the group the
mechanics and interpretation of a song. Groups can select a song from any published

On Your Feet: Improvisation & Co.
Program Description: When we watch “Whose Line is it Anyway?” on
television, we are watching improvisation at its finest. In this interactive workshop, our
professionals teach sketch comedy and theater games as an integral part of

Didgeridoo Down Under is a unique,
Australia-themed show that combines music, culture, art, literacy

The mesmerizing didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for

The didgeridoo has been played by
Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years, and is known for its

Program Description:
Each workshop is one hour and excellent for
Grades K – 4. It is an ideal program for science, recycling, birds, and nature. It begins with a 25
minute fun, interactive talk about native birds and each of their unique behaviors. Program goes
on to talk about the foods these birds prefer and how they eat. Students are taught which foods
can be fed to them from your own pantry. Students are shown several types of fun, recycled
feeders. They make their own, plus several homemade recipes. They go home with their feeders,
recipes and a book if ordered beforehand.

Program Description:
Expand upon the concepts presented in your
curriculum. Handmade books can be constructed around any subject and provide a creative means
of recording and sharing what students have learned. RoCA’s step-by-step instruction begins

The Mural Project
Program Description:
This collaborative program takes students through
the hands-on process of creating their own mural as a community. Students will brainstorm on a
theme and visual ideas, crate images and then combine drawings from the group to create a
