This panel will assess the war in
Afghanistan from the diverse perspectives
inherent in the war studies tradition, both
to arrive at a more comprehensive
assessment of the Afghan war and to
encourage reflection on the merits of war
studies. The perspectives will be drawn
from security studies, international law,
and cultural studies.
This Panel seeks to address the many crises
currently shaping European (in)security:
from the Eurozone crisis, to the Ukraine
crisis, the migrant crisis, and terrorist
threats. It aims at reflecting on how these
crises can be analysed, but also at advance
our understanding of how they are
interconnected.
This panel reflects on how security
discourses and policies are increasingly
concerned with issues such as cyber risks,
environmental degradation, criminal
organisations and urban insecurities. It
seeks to assess ethical and
political/strategic challenges relating to the
‘emergence’ of these concerns as security
issues.

Eksperimenterne kommer! De er også
langsomt ved at vinde indpas i studiet af
den offentlige forvaltning. Panelet egner
sig både til survey-, laboratorie- og
felteksperimenter i offentlig forvaltning.
Det gælder både papers, der anvender
disse metoder eller diskuterer deres brug.
Panelet er også tiltænkt papers, der
bruger naturlige eksperimenter med en
stærk identifikationsstrategi.

En lang række velfærdsopgaver og
samfundsudfordringer løses i dag i et tæt
samspil mellem den offentlige og private
sektor. Til dette panel inviteres papirer,
som behandler samspillet mellem den
offentlige og private sektor fra forskellige
teoretiske, tematiske og metodiske
perspektiver. Tematikker for papirer kan
fx være reguleringsmodeller og erfaringer
med udlicitering, konkurrenceudsættelse,
offentlige-private partnerskaber,
offentlige indkøb og frit-valgs ordninger.
Forskellige teoretiske perspektiver og
kvantitative såvel som kvalitative studier
ønskes.
Politikerne er stærkt afhængige af bistand
fra embedsmændene. Det gælder både i
kommunerne og ministerierne. Det
indebærer et tæt samspil mellem
politikere og embedsmænd. Panelet
sætter med en række empiriske papirer
fokus på embedsmændenes rolle i
grænselandet mellem politik og
forvaltning.
