(THE MET THEORY)

SUMMARY
The MET Theory was developed as an integrated and holistic theoretical framework to solve the
mounting humanitarian and security challenges in Europe hence, it was derived from previous theories
and models such as the First Theory of Migration (The Push-Pull Theory) and the Practical Model for
International Conflicts Reversal and Prevention (MICRAP) both developed by the author. The
Migration, Employment and Terrorism Theory (the MET Theory) states that migration in form of
immigration and direction/status of employment of migrants is directly proportional to the possibility
of terrorism and level of crime in any country. This Theory essentially explains the relationship and
correlation between the three (3) concepts of Migration, Employment and Terrorism while at the same
time providing practical sustainable solutions and/or approach to the management of the trio
concurrently. The MET Theory is developed with several valid conceptual assertions some of which
states that; poorly managed migration tends to incur stress upon internal employment
dimensions/status; unemployed migrants have the highest tendencies to engage in terrorism and/or
crime related activities; and that positive forward socio-cultural integration reduces “imported” sociocultural extremism and terrorism in any country. Also, the MET Theory contains some relational
models one of which is described mathematically as M + ES = TL where M is migration, ES means
employment status/direction of employment and TL represents level of terrorism or probability of
terrorism. This notation is simply explained to mean that the level and probability of terrorism is
directly proportional to migration and employment status/direction of employment of migrants. For
example, an uncontrolled increase in migration would consequentially lead to a proportionate stress on
status/direction of employment in the host/target country which in turn has the greatest potential to
increase the possibility of terrorism and/or crimes. Therefore, to holistically and simultaneously solve
challenges relating to migration, employment and terrorism in any country or region, the MET theory
is developed as a conceptual framework with relational models that is applied in various planning and
policies implementation activities with valid statistically quantifiable variables thus standing as a solid
framework to both propel development as well as prevent terrorism or crimes in regions of applications.
