Miniature Schnauzers
When and Where Did The Miniature Schnauzer Originate?
The Miniature Schnauzer is a dog breed that originated in Germany in the latter half of
the 19th century. It is the smallest of the three Schnauzer breeds and in general, is a
healthy dog that can live a longer life when compared to other schnauzers.
What Kind of Dogs Are Miniature Schnauzers?
Miniature Schnauzers are known to be alert watchdogs, unusually hyper alert on
occasions. They are generally good with other pets rather than with other breeds or its
breed of dogs. In other words, the miniature schnauzer does not mingle actively with
other dogs and behaves strangely as is its character.
Are There Any Common Health Issues of Miniature Schnauzers?
Some of the most common health issues that miniature schnauzers face are pancreatitis,
allergies, diabetes, epilepsy, or a tendency to develop stones of calcium oxalate.
How Do Miniature Schnauzers React To A Stranger?
With the natural guarding instinct that a Miniature Schnauzer possesses, it certainly
barks on seeing a stranger and is very protective of its owners. It is also suspicious of
other dogs that are new to it.
What Is The General Behaviour of a Miniature Schnauzer?
In general, the Miniature Schnauzer is a well-mannered, family protective and funloving dog. Although they tend to bark a little loud, this tendency of barking loud can be
controlled with training. They need daily exercise – whether it is playtime in the yard or
a daily walk. They are intelligent and quickly become bored if left alone at home without
exercise. One who raises a miniature schnauzer should make sure to keep it active by
giving it ample exercise every day.
The Miniature Schnauzer will be well behaved only when you make it exercise for at
least an hour a day, which increases its energy to higher levels. Generally, these dogs
have higher energy levels because they get good exercise every day. The mini schnauzer
requires a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day to remain active and energetic.
What Is The Sleep Activity of a Miniature Schnauzer?
An adult miniature schnauzer sleeps for at least 12 to 16 hours a day. Schnauzer
puppies sleep at least 15-17 hours a day.
Does Early Training Help A Miniature Schnauzer?
A miniature schnauzer can be trained easily, but due to their natural high energy levels
and intelligence, they get distracted easily from focussing on a thing and become very
stubborn. Training must be started at an early age if you want a well-behaved
Miniature Schnauzer.
