Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana (established in
1956), has been straining persistently in the field of education by
comprehending the need for uplift of rural youth in a highly competitive
and technologically advanced society and understanding their quest for
knowledge and quenching this thirst.
Atharva is the annual technical festival of GNDEC,
Ludhiana, where the knowledge is created, imbibed,
inspired and shared in the true sense.
• Atharva aims at redefining knowledge by putting our
readings into practice in a way relevant to the world.
• Here, we rejuvenate young minds with a touch of realistic
innovation and dynamic ideas.
We’ve helped bring out the dormant talent and
creativity in many.

Fight Against Rape
Rape is the only crime where the victim is on trial!
•A rape take place every 20 minutes in India.
•Right after the infamous Delhi rape case, there were numerous cases
of rapes reported. Instead of being deterred, and when the entire
nation was out on streets in full force, there still existed inhuman
elements who had the nerve to perpetrate more horrors.
•Statistics show that the number of rapes has risen steadily. But only
10% of all rapes get reported and just 24% of these cases see
convictions.
• The authorities routinely disbelieve and humiliate them; they are
represented insensitively in the media; and their recovery is not
prioritized.
• Besides, a large part of society continues to blame the survivor,
not the rapist.
All this discourages many survivors of rape from reporting the
incident. As a result, rapists escape the law and many repeat their
crimes. But we, the members of society, far outnumber the rapists.
What stops us from supporting the survivor’s fight for justice?
Empower yourself and survivors of rape and sexual assault.
Show survivors that they are not alone because you are with
them.
