Both practice nurses are accredited providers of smoking cessation
advice and cervical smear services.
Healthcare Assistant
Joanne Iveson works between the two surgeries, assisting the nurses
by offering phlebotomy (blood taking), dressings, ECGs and other
District Nurses and Midwives
District Nurses and Midwives are based at Leyburn Medical Practice but
visit both surgeries at Hawes and Aysgarth.

Welcome to the Central Dales Practice
We are an established GP Surgery based at the Health Centre in
Hawes and Aysgarth Surgery. We aim to provide a high standard of
care to our patients. We hope this leaflet provides you with
information to help you understand who our local members of staff
are, and the services they can provide. If you require further
information please contact us.

8.45am to 6.00pm (phone lines open from 8.30am to 6.00pm)
8.45am to 4.00pm (phone lines open from 8.30am to 4.00pm then
switch to Aysgarth 4.00pm to 6.00pm)

Monday to Friday
9.00am to 6.00pm (phone lines open 8.30am to 6.00pm)

Cervical Cytology (Smears)
When you receive your recall letter, contact your surgery to make an
appointment. If you prefer a lady doctor or nurse, please tell the
receptionist when booking. If you are between 25 and 65 and have
not had a smear within the last three years, please contact your
Child Health Surveillance And Immunisation
This is organised by your local health visitor. Details can be obtained
from either surgery.
Minor Injuries
Both Hawes and Aysgarth surgeries offer a Minor Injury Service to
our registered patients Monday to Friday between the hours of
8.30am and 6.00pm (except for Public Holidays). We may be able to
see visitors to the area who have had a minor injury – please call the
surgery on 01969 667200 (Hawes) or 01969 663222 (Aysgarth).
For more serious injuries or over the course of a weekend or public
holiday, patients can go to the Accident and Emergency Department
at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton or Darlington Memorial
Hospital. However, if a person is suffering a very serious injury or
life-threatening condition, please call 999 for an ambulance.
Minor Surgery And Cryotherapy
Some surgical procedures can be carried out at your surgery. Your
doctor will advise you during your consultation.
Specialists from the hospitals hold clinics at Hawes and Aysgarth.
Your doctor will refer you as appropriate.
Weight Reduction
Please ask the practice nurse at your surgery.
Once monthly at Aysgarth and twice monthly at Hawes by
Foreign Travel
At least three weeks before travelling please attend surgery and
request a consultation with your practice nurse. Your immunisation
history will be checked, you will be given travel health advice
appropriate to your destination(s) and will be offered the necessary
Wednesdays at Hawes by appointment with surgery reception or
your optician Mr R A Orkney, Leyburn, telephone 01969 623001.

Repeat Prescriptions
You can obtain a repeat prescription by the following:
