1.0 EVALUATION SCOPE

2.0 USES
The Arrowfish Connection Systems by Taizhou Arrowfish
Curtain Wall Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (Arrowfish)
are used to support granite panels in a granite panel
façade system that is installed over exterior walls or wall
framing.
3.0 DESCRIPTION
3.1 General:
An Arrowfish Connection System consists of Arrowfish
undercut anchors and connecting clip assemblies. Each
corner region of a granite panel is connected to the
supporting framing using one Arrowfish undercut anchor
and one corresponding connecting clip assembly. A granite
panel façade system consists of granite panels, supporting
Arrowfish undercut anchors, and the corresponding
connecting clip assemblies. The maximum installed weight

of a granite panel façade system is 16.4 psf (80 kg/m ).

3.1.1 Arrowfish Undercut Anchors: Arrowfish undercut
anchor, Model AF-M6x15-30 consists of an M6x30
all-threaded rod (or screw), a matching M6x15 anchor
sleeve, and one matching M6 flange nut. Arrowfish
undercut anchor, Model AF-M8x15-30 consists of an
M8x30 all-threaded rod (or screw), a matching M8x15
anchor sleeve, and one matching M8 flange nut. The
anchor components, including all-threaded rods, anchor
sleeves and flange nuts, are made from Type 316 stainless
steel conforming to product specifications in the approved
quality documentation. See Figure 1 for Arrowfish
AF-M6x15 and AF-M8x15 undercut anchors.
3.1.2 Connecting Clip Assemblies: Each Arrowfish
connecting clip assembly consists of a hang piece clip
(Part AF-G1-50-6-2 or Part AF-G1-50-8-2), a hang seat
clip (Part AF-T2-80). The connecting clips are
manufactured from nominal 4-mm-thick (0.157 inch) Type
6063-T5 aluminum alloy conforming to product
specifications in the approved quality documentation. The
Part G1-50-x-x has an overall dimension of 1.97-inch-wideby-2.44-inch-tall (50 mm x 62 mm) and the Part AF-T2-80
has an overall dimension of 3.15-inch-wide-by-2.36-inchtall (80 mm x 60 mm). The connecting clip assembly with
Part AF-G1-50-6-2 is for use with AF-M6x15 undercut
anchors and the connecting clip assembly with Part
AF-G1-50-8-2 is for use with AF-M8x15 undercut anchors.
The connecting clips are secured together by using two
M6x16 stainless steel hexogen setting screws provided by
others. Refer to Figure 2 for a typical Arrowfish connection
system.
3.1.3 Granite Panels: Granite panels used with Arrowfish
Undercut Anchor Assemblies must comply with the
physical requirements specified in ASTM C615.
The panels must be 24 inches by 24 inches
(600 mm x 600 mm) and must be 1 inch (25 mm) thick.
4.0 DESIGN AND INSTALLATION
4.1 General:
Arrowfish connection systems must be used to support
granite panels and must be attached to the supporting
framing of granite panel façade system that is installed
over exterior walls or wall framing capable of supporting
the imposed loads, including, but not limited to, transverse
wind loads. A granite panel façade system must be
securely fastened to the supporting exterior wall or wall
framing with corrosion-resistant fasteners that are
compatible with both the hang seat clip of the connecting
clip assembly and the wall assembly substrate.
4.2 Design:
Wind load capacities, including nominal strengths, ASD
strengths, and LRFD strengths, given in Table 1, are

based on transverse load testing in accordance with
ASTM E330 on granite panel façade systems that are
fastened to horizontal angle-shape profiles by using two
Type 304 M6x16 stainless steel screws provided by others
and spaced at a maximum of 14.2 inches (360 mm) on
center in both horizontal and vertical directions within each
granite panel.
In-plane shear strengths (gravity resistance) and
transverse load strengths, given in Table 2, are based on
shear load and transverse load testing in accordance with
ASTM C1354 on individual Arrowfish undercut anchor
attached to a granite panel.
For transverse load design of exterior wall assemblies
constructed with the granite panel façade systems, the
applied transverse loads, determined in accordance with
IBC Chapter 16 or Section R301.2.1 of the IRC, as
applicable, must be equal to or less than the corresponding
capacity, which must be the lesser of ASD strengths or
LRFD strengths noted in Tables 1 and 2.
The exterior wall, wall framing and the attachment of the
granite panel façade system to the supporting exterior wall
or wall framing to withstand gravity and transverse forces
must be designed by a registered design professional in
accordance with the IBC, and the details must be
submitted to the code official for approval. The capacities
of the exterior walls or wall framing and the connection
between the facade system and its supporting exterior
walls or wall framing must be equal to or greater than
those noted in this section (Section 4.2) and in Tables 1
and 2, unless the capacities of the façade systems
described in this evaluation report are reduced accordingly.
4.3 Installation:
Installation of Arrowfish Connection Systems in granite
panel façade systems, the supporting exterior wall or wall
framing and the connection between a facade system and
its supporting exterior walls or wall framing must be in
accordance with the most restrictive requirement of the
following: the manufacturer’s published installation
instructions, the approved project-specific construction
documents, and this evaluation report. Installations must
be done by qualified installers recognized by Taizhou
Arrowfish Curtain Wall Science and Technology. A copy of
the installation instructions must be available on the jobsite
during construction.
Arrowfish undercut anchors must be installed
perpendicular to the granite panels into pre-drilled anchor
holes at the four corners of the panels with an edge
distance of 4.72 inches (120 mm) from both edges, using a
special drilling tool provided by Arrowfish. The maximum
horizontal and vertical center-to-center distance of anchors
must be 14.2 inches (360 mm). The embedment depth for
both Arrowfish AF-M6x15 and AF-M8x15 undercut anchors
must be 0.59 inch (15 mm).
Figure 3 provides a typical installation of a granite panel
façade system. The depiction of supporting framing, the
screw connections between the connecting clips and the
horizontal supporting members, the connections between
horizontal supporting members and the vertical supporting
members, and the connections between the vertical
supporting members and the exterior walls or wall framing,
is for illustrative purpose, and is outside the scope of this
report. Figure 4 provides a photograph of a partially
installed granite panel façade system.

5.0 CONDITIONS OF USE
The Arrowfish Connection Systems described in this report
comply with, or are a suitable alternative to what is
specified in, those codes listed in Section 1.0 of this report,
subject to the following conditions:
5.1 Installation must comply with this report, the approved
construction documents, and the manufacturer’s
published installation instructions. In case of a
conflict, the most restrictive requirement governs.
5.2 Arrowfish Connection Systems must be installed in
accordance with Sections 4.2 and 4.3 of this
evaluation report.
5.3 Granite panel façade systems constructed with the
Arrowfish Connection Systems, and the support of the
granite panel façade systems must be designed in
accordance with the applicable code and Section 4.2
of this evaluation report.
5.4 Drawings, design details and calculations verifying
compliance with applicable code and this evaluation
report must be submitted to the code official for
approval. The drawings and calculations must be
prepared by a registered design professional where
required by the statutes of the jurisdiction in which the
project is constructed.
5.5 Support of the granite panel façade systems,
including the screw connections between the
connecting clips and the supporting framing, and the
supporting framing, is outside the scope of this
evaluation report.
5.6 Performances other than gravity load and wind load
resistances, such as weather protection and fire
performance of the granite panel façade systems
constructed with the Arrowfish Connection Systems,
have not been evaluated and are outside the scope of
this evaluation report.
5.7 The Arrowfish Connection Systems are manufactured
by Taizhou Arrowfish Curtain Wall Science and
Technology Co., Ltd., under an approved quality
control program with inspections by ICC-ES.
6.0 EVIDENCE SUBMITTED
6.1 Reports of granite properties testing in accordance
with ASTM C615.
6.2 Reports of individual fastener anchorage strength
testing in accordance with ASTM C1354.
6.3 Reports of transverse wind load testing of granite
panel facade systems in accordance with
ASTM E330.
6.4 Quality Control Documentation.
7.0 IDENTIFICATION
Cartons of Arrowfish undercut anchors are labeled with the
manufacturer’s name (Taizhou Arrowfish Curtain Wall
Science and Technology Co., Ltd) or logo, the product
model designation (AF-M6x15 or AF-M8x15), and the
evaluation report number (ESR-3880).
Cartons of the aluminum connecting clip assemblies are
labeled with the manufacturer’s name (Taizhou Arrowfish
Curtain Wall Science and Technology Co., Ltd) or logo,
product identification number, product description, and the
evaluation report number (ESR-3880).
