It is for the first time that Romania hosts the Central European Symposium on Echocardiography – now a traditional meeting, joining every two years centraleuropean echocardiographers; this year guests from Bosnia-Hercegovina, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Slovakia are here. Our meeting is intended as a pragmatic update of various clinical areas and is covering leading topics in modern cardiovascular ultrasound. The presence of distinguished experts from all these countries guarantees the success of the meeting. Lectures, clinical case presentations, controversies and “meeting with industry” sessions will be included in the programme. The meeting will also have one interesting poster session. Financial facilities for young cardiologists have been made available, in order to encourage their presence. We hope that the Symposium will create many opportunities for stimulating discussions and tightening personal contacts between echocardiographers from all over Central Europe. On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committee, we wish you a pleasant stay and hope that you will be satisfied by both the scientific and the touristic programme of the meeting Ioan Mircea Coman MD, FESC 26th October - 27th October, 2007 – Sibiu, Romania Ion Manitiu MD, PhD 7th Central European Symposium on Echocardiography Hall I Friday, October 26th, 2007 Hall II 14.00 - 14.30 Opening Ceremony 14.00 - 16.00 Echocardiography for general practitioners (R) LECTURES (1) VARIA Moderators: I.
