NEW ROCK AND METAL BOARD
GAME PUTS YOUR MUSIC
KNOWLEDGE TO THE TEST
SEPTEMBER 2012, STOCKHOLM. Rock
Science is a new board game released in the
UK in September 2012. The game has been
created by a group of rockers and is all about
rock knowledge. “Basically what you and your
pals are arguing over on a Friday night put into
a game” says Nicke Andersson (Entombed, The
Hellacopters and Imperial State Electric), one
of the creators.
Rock Science was released in Sweden in December 2011
and was well received by fans, rock stars and critics. Now in
September 2012 the board game is released in the the UK,
USA, Germany and Scandinavia. With 1,600 trivia questions
covering hundreds of influential rock bands from the 1960s
up until today, the game provides for many rocking evenings
with friends and family.
FROM BLACK SABBATH TO IN FLAMES
The game covers classic rock, heavy metal, NWOBHM,
thrash metal, punk, glam, grunge and extreme metal with
questions about bands like Kiss, Black Sabbath, Deep
Purple, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Guns N’ Roses,
Venom, Pearl Jam, Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones and In
Flames.
BEYOND THE BOARD GAME
Rock Science is much more than a board game. As well
as having fun with your friends, Rock Science is all about
putting your knowledge about the harder forms of rock to the
test. It’s about entertainment and love for rock music and its
origins. Rock Science is a way of life.
Rock Science is already alive and kicking on the web at www.
rockscience.tv. The digital mobile version is being developed
as we speak.
HOW THE GAME WORKS
Rock Science is a board game for 2-6 players. The goal is
to be the first to finish one lap around the board through
the use of rock knowledge, clever betting and a bit of luck.
Players answer questions about anecdotes, myths, rockers,
albums, songs and Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Roll. There is also
a chance (risk?) that you get to perform well-known songs –
hum the riffs, tap the beats or use charades!

All questions have three levels of difficulty: Poser, Fan and Scientist.
Poser questions are easier so anyone can join the game!
All players are always involved since they bet on each other’s rock
knowledge.
With intuitive rules and fast gameplay it’s quick (60 minutes) and
easy to learn
Not many board games have their own signature tune. Rock
Science is quite possibly the only board game in the world
with its own, dedicated anthem. It’s written by Nicke Andersson and recorded by his band Imperial State Electric. Listen
