Authentic Performance Tasks
APTs are checkpoints throughout a unit. Students learn and practice a set of skills, then apply it
independently via an APT. These tasks build in rigor throughout the unit, usually toward a culminating
writing activity based on one of the three text types: Informational, Opinion/Argument, or Narrative.
