You can choose to see the
world in a different way. You
create your reality in the way
you decode your life experiences and the world. It is up
to you to see a wonderful or a
terrible world. Nothing has to
change, only your perspective, your focus, and most
importantly, your energy.
How do you go through life?
Do you have a sense of appreciation and wonder? Or
do you constantly criticize
everything and think that the
world is a disaster? Are you
grateful for the small and
important moments that you
have the opportunity to enjoy
every day? Appreciate the
kiss from your partner, the
beauty of the landscape, the
wonderful taste of a fruit, the
peaceful walk in the park, the
beautiful sculpture in the middle of the street, the softness
of your cat’s skin, or the call
of someone you Love. Don’t
take all of this for granted.
You can choose to see Love,
kindness, and compassion
everywhere, and the Universe will provide them to
you. You will find a happy
neighbor in the elevator,
people will help you without
even asking, and you will
see opportunities instead of
problems. You will feel good
in your world because you
have chosen happiness. But
you might be asking yourself,
what about when I have a
major health problem or I
don’t have enough money
to pay the rent this month?
It is especially in difficult moments when you need to look
at the world in a new way. Everything can improve if you
don’t lose what will open the
doors for you, transform your
life, and connect you with
the source of abundance. It
is your vibration of Love, the
Love for yourself and others.
To connect with the world
around you and to be able to
appreciate it, you need to be
connected with yourself first.
You need to own your power
to create your experiences.
You have to believe that you
can choose how you feel, independently of your external
circumstances. Even if you
experience pain or difficult
emotions, know that you can
let them go. It is your choice
and it transforms your reality
instantly. Don’t ask the world
to change; don’t try to fix the
lives of others. Focus your
life on enjoying it to the fullest. Accept your reality and,
at the same time, invest all
your energy in creating a
new one where you dreams
can happen. Never stop believing in yourself.

Statewide Water Conservation Drops Below 18
Percent in August

The State
Resources
Control Board today announced that urban Californians’ monthly water conservation declined to 17.7
percent in August, down
from 27 percent savings in
August 2015, raising concerns that some water suppliers are abandoning their
focus on conservation as
California heads into a possible sixth drought year.
Californians continue to
conserve water in significant amounts even in the
absence of state-mandated
conservation targets. The
cumulative average savings
from June 2015 through August 2016 was 23.3 percent,
compared with the same
months in 2013. Since June
2015, two million acre-feet
of water has been saved
— enough water to supply 10 million people, more

However, water conservation has dropped steeply

monitor conservation levels,
a return to state-mandated
conservation may be necessary beginning next year.

The Spiritualist movement reached
its peak in popularity in the 1840s
and into the early 20th century. Followers believed they could communicate with the spirits of the dead either by contacting them personally,
or through a medium. The movement spread throughout the U.S.
and Great Britain, with thousands
of people attending meetings, séances, lectures, and conventions.
Along with the meetings and séances in both private and public forums
came many “contacts” and mediums
who turned out to be no more than
a hoax.
In addition to teaching, Davidson is
also a self-described “magic enthusiast.”

By Lt. Cmdr. David Daitch, Navy Office of Community Outreach
JOINT BASE PEARL HARBORHICKAM – A 2012 Downey High
School graduate and Downey, California native is serving in the U.S.
Navy aboard the guided-missile destroyer, USS Chung-Hoon.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Fausto Arteaga is a gas turbine systems technician aboard the forward-deployed
Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile
destroyer operating out of Joint
Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
A Navy gas turbine systems technician is responsible for the operation
and maintenance of the propulsion
and power generation systems on
the ship.
“I work in the oil lab, testing fuel
and lube oil for the whole ship,” said
Arteaga. “I test for flash point, contamination and water, so we know
we’re getting good fuel so our engines can operate at maximum efficiency and safety.”
Chung-Hoon, measures approximately 500 feet and is powered by
four gas turbines that allow the destroyer to achieve more than 30 mph
in open seas.
According to Navy officials, destroyers are tactical multi-mission surface
combatants capable of conducting anti-air warfare, anti-submarine
warfare and anti-surface warfare,
as well as humanitarian assistance.
Fast, maneuverable, and technically
advanced, destroyers provide the
required warfighting expertise and
operational flexibility to execute any
tasking overseas.
“Our Naval Surface Group Middle
Pacific guided-missile destroyers
are poised, trained, equipped and
ready to deploy forward and support the Fleet,” said Rear Adm. John
Fuller, Commander, Navy Region
Hawaii and Naval Surface Group
Middle Pacific. “Working with friends
and allies, our MIDPAC sailors provide sea control, advance maritime
security, enhance regional stability,
and foster continued prosperity in
the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.”
Approximately 30 officers and 300
enlisted men and women make up
the ship’s company. Their jobs are
highly specialized and keep each
part of the cruiser running smoothly,
according to Navy officials. The jobs
range from maintaining engines and
handling weaponry to washing dishes and preparing meals.
“Besides being my job, the Navy is
my life,” said Arteaga. “The other
sailors I work with are like brothers,
and very close friends, and that’s
something I never had before.”
The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give blood to support
cancer patients and other patients
during Breast Cancer Awareness
Month this October.
Challenging living conditions build
strong fellowship among the crew,
Navy officials explained. The crew is
highly motivated, and quickly adapt
to changing conditions. It is a busy
life of specialized work, watches,
and drills.
More than 1.6 million new cases of
cancer are expected to be diagnosed
in the U.S. this year and 246,600 of
them will be invasive breast cancer,
according to the American Cancer
Society. Cancer patients may need
blood products during chemotherapy, surgery or treatment for complications.
“Being in the Navy has given me so
much opportunity,” said Arteaga. “I
never would have imagined myself
traveling the world, working on millions of dollars of equipment. It’s a
lot of responsibility for someone my
age, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Up to this point in time, Carolyn Gaines has been best
known for her many contributions to the blues, particularly
as a teacher. The daughter
of the great guitarist-singer
Roy Gaines and the niece of
saxophonist Grady Gaines
(who worked with Little Richard and Sam Cooke), she has
been a spokesman for the
blues, a producer, an author
and the founder of her Blues
Schools programs. She has
educated a countless number of young students about
the importance of the blues.
But now Ms. Gaines is taking
center stage as an important
new blues singer.
Carolyn Gaines’ debut EP, I
Want Your Money Honey, not
only shows just how much
she learned from her predecessors but displays her originality as
a highly expressive blues singer.
The opening “I Want Your Money
Honey” is a medium-tempo lowdown
blues in which the singer sounds
quite dangerous ( like Ma Rainey),
with her powerful vocal abilities a bit
demanding and exciting. One knows
that she is going to get the money!
In contrast, her “Mr. Dill Pickle” (inspired by Blind Boy Fuller’s “I Want
A Piece Of Your Pie” from 1939) is
a good time blues on which Carolyn
Gaines’ growls and tonal distortions
are quite appealing. While there is
a connection to the Blind Boy Fuller
piece, her lyrics sound topical and
contemporary while the performances has the flavor of a 1930s Chicago
blues jam session.

Marcus added: “While last year’s rain
and snow brought a respite for urban
California, we are still in drought, and
we can’t know what this winter will
bring. What we do know is that climate change will continue to make
our water years even more unpredictable, so we need to retain our conservation habits for the long term, rain or
shine, drought or no drought.”
Conservation Data
Statewide water savings for August
2016 was 17.7 percent (124,094
acre‑feet or 40.4 billion gallons), a
decrease from July 2016’s 20 percent
savings, and also a decrease from
August 2015’s 27 percent statewide
savings (63.5 billion gallons). August
2016 water savings are 36 percent
lower than August 2015.
Cumulative statewide percent reduction for June 2015 – August 2016 (fifteen months) is 23.3 percent, which
equates to 2,024,599 acre-feet (659.7
billion gallons).
Statewide average R-GPCD for August 2016 was 114.1 gallons; slightly
lyn Gaines gives a fresh new spin.
As with Guy’s recording, this new
version is intimate but quietly fiery
with its own brand of restrained passion. Carolyn Gaines added her gritty, spiritual, bluesy, majestic phrasing with an old way back 1920’s to
1930’s folk, country blues. Carolyn
Gaines and Buddy Guy are both
from the Blues planet.
The EP concludes with a transformation of Muddy Waters’ “I’m Your
Hoochie Coochie Man” into “Hoochie Coochie Woman.” Carolyn Gaines
modernized and revised the lyrics
into a version that Muddy Waters
would have enjoyed.
Carolyn Gaines added her growls,
sexy, soulful, bluesy-gritty 1951 Chicago’s: Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy
and Chess Records distinctive-pork
bones flavor to ‘’Hoochie Coochie
Woman’’.
Throughout this EP, Carolyn Gaines

Conservation levels have remained
significant for many communities that
had certified that they did not need top
down mandates to keep conserving.
Under the board’s revised emergency
water conservation regulations, urban
water agencies have the ability to
set their own conservation standards
based on a “stress test” of supply reliability. Water suppliers had to document that they have sufficient supplies
to withstand three years of continuous
drought or take additional measures
that include state-imposed mandatory
conservation targets. The regulation is
in effect through January 2017. Those
stress test results are here.
Of more than 400 local water agencies
in California, 343 suppliers passed
their stress test. Of those, 114 suppliers – or about a third – saved more
than 20 percent in August, compared
with the same month in 2013. These
suppliers serve more than seven million people and include Sacramento,

Now with the release of I Want Your

her way to being recognized as an
important blues artist. Her distinctive
voice is featured throughout the four

As Glenn Doll says, “Carolyn Gaines

While some local water suppliers
may have relaxed water use restrictions from those that were in place
last summer, most agencies have
kept up locally mandated restrictions

which the state strongly encourages.
Regardless of a supplier’s individual
conservation requirement, the statewide prohibitions on specific wasteful
practices such as fountains without

Case No. 16STPB04531
To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors,
and persons who may otherwise be interested in the will
or estate, or both, of LEWIS WILLIAM WOODS, SR.
A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by Fatram
Norman in the Superior Court of California, County of
LOS ANGELES.
THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that Richard
Woods be appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent.
THE PETITION requests the decedent’s will and codicils,
if any, be admitted to probate. The will and any codicils
are available for examination in the file kept by the court.
THE PETITION requests authority to administer the estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act.
(This authority will allow the personal representative to
take many actions without obtaining court approval. Before taking certain very important actions, however, the
personal representative will be required to give notice
to interested persons unless they have waived notice or
consented to the proposed action.) The independent administration authority will be granted unless an interested
person files an objection to the petition and shows good
cause why the court should not grant the authority.
A HEARING on the petition will be held on Oct. 26, 2016
at 8:30 AM in Dept. No. 9 located at 111 N. Hill St., Los
Angeles, CA 90012.
IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition, you
should appear at the hearing and state your objections
or file written objections with the court before the hearing.
Your appearance may be in person or by your attorney.
IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of the
decedent, you must file your claim with the court and mail
a copy to the personal representative appointed by the
court within the later of either (1) four months from the
date of first issuance of letters to a general personal representative, as defined in section 58(b) of the California
Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from the date of mailing or
personal delivery to you of a notice under section 9052 of
the California Probate Code.
Other California statutes and legal authority may affect
your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with an
attorney knowledgeable in California law.
YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you are

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are
risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding

trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear
ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien
being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all
liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive
clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the
existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on
this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title
insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this
information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be
aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or
deed of trust on this property.
NOTICE OF TRUSTEE’S SALE
Note: Because the Beneficiary reserves the right to bid less than
the total debt owed, it is possible that at the time of the sale the
opening bid may be less than the total debt
NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on
this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding
on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien,
not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership
of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the
auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior
to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title
to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence,
priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property
by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If
you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the
same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust
on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date
shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times
by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you
and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale.

take many actions without obtaining court approval. Before taking certain very important actions, however, the
personal representative will be required to give notice
to interested persons unless they have waived notice or

Angeles, CA 90012.

should appear at the hearing and state your objections
or file written objections with the court before the hearing.
If you are a
person interested in the estate, you may file with the court
a Request for Special Notice (form DE-154) of the filing
of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any
petition or account as provided in Probate Code section
1250. A Request for Special Notice form is available from
