Financial Overview
Despite the severe economic downturn that began in fall
2008 and grew into the recession that continues in 2010,
Share Our Strength had a strong year financially in 2009.
While many nonprofits suffered losses and were forced
to downsize, Share Our Strength’s revenue and overall
budget grew. Thanks to careful budgeting and a generous
response to the growing number of hungry children in the
United States from donors, partners, and other funders,
Share Our Strength earned a surplus in 2009 following a
loss in 2008, and was able to increase its revenue by
44 percent to $20 million in 2009.
