Welcome to the Carlisle Truck Nationals. This event has become one of the fastest
growing events at Carlisle due to the enthusiasm of attendees, the passion of our par-

You will undoubtedly notice the number of kids and families here to see all the

trucks this weekend. We are sure that monster trucks and Megasaurus are what captured the interests of the kids, but there is even more in store for them. Kids of all ages
will enjoy the passion shown by the 2,000
show trucks present on the grounds this
weekend. Many of these are presented
by individuals and clubs that have taken
much pride in building and presenting
them here at Carlisle.
Carlisle, PA is one of the biggest trucking hubs in the country. The truck industry is here to share their enthusiasm also.

are also featuring the American Truck Historical Society with a number of classic rigs

PETS
Pets are strongly discouraged for health and safety reasons.
If you cannot make other arrangements for boarding, your
pet must be on a leash and policing after it is required.
Your pet must be under your control at all times, and you
are fully responsible for its actions. Any offensive or unsafe
action by your pet may result in expulsion without refund.
TRANSPORTATION
For safety reasons, the use of all personal means of transportation (bikes, scooters, golf carts, ATVs, motorcycles
or minibikes, etc.) is forbidden on the Fairgrounds from
7 a.m.-5 p.m. on all show days. No unlicensed drivers may
operate these vehicles at any time. Verification of insurance
is required.

Dangerous conditions can exist on the Fairgrounds. Due
to exposure to the weather, areas may become slippery or
soft. Due to the nature of the goods displayed, heavy and
sometimes dangerous equipment and moving vehicles are
frequently present. Carlisle Productions cannot be responsible for the conduct of vendors and patrons entering these
premises. Those who enter the Fairgrounds do so at their
own risk.

fun activities that parents and kids can
enjoy together. All activities are free of

INDOOR FUN: Craft activities and indoor play. A quieter, shaded pit stop
for young ones to re-charge their

swing, and climb on our outdoor
swing set and play house. For young
ones whose engines are in high gear,

dB Drag Racing and Bass
Race are two
of the premier
formats
for
SPL competitions and we
will have them
both thumping all weekend long. dB
Drags pose
two vehicles head-to-head to see who
has the loudest stereo. Bass Race is
a head-to-head stereo competition
where competitors play commercially
available music for 30 seconds and
are given an average SPL score. This
score places the competitor in 1 of 6
classes. The class is determined by
score; classes are NOT determined by
equipment, vehicle, competitor status,
installation or manufacturer (making it
perfect for the first timer). Competitors
compete against each other with similar scores.
DYNO TESTING •••••••••
Axcelerated
M otorspor ts,
the
official
dyno of Carlisle
Events, will be testing for maximum
horsepower and torque on their Dynojet
model 248 chassis dyno. Testing will
cover front- and rear-wheel drive cars
and trucks, including diesels. Fee applies.

ROCK CLIMBING WALL •••

Wall. This is a
safe way for all
members of the family – novice to expert
climbers – to test their climbing abilities
in reaching the 24-foot summit. And, it’s
a fun way to boost your adrenaline at the

year
clubs
compete
to
see which has the most vehicles in attendance and awards are presented to the
top three. There is also an award presented to the club who has the coolest hangout. See who won in 2009 on PAGE 29.

high-low contest showcases
the highest of the lifted world with the
lowest of the dropped world.

BURNOUT CONTEST •••••
No
Carlisle
event would
be complete
without
the
burnout contest. “Carlisle
King (or Queen) of the Hill” bragging
rights are up for grabs once again at the
Carlisle Truck Nationals. Preregistration is
required at Guest Services. A show sticker
(i.e. registered for vending or showfield),
driver’s license and proof of insurance
are required. Participants are limited to
10 vehicles and 3 minutes each.
FRAME DRAGGING ••••••
The Carlisle sky
will be lit up
by more than
big rigs and
Megasaurus.
On Saturday
night, mini-trucks will lay out and throw
sparks at will on the east side hill. Don’t
miss the frame-dragging action as we
cut the hill open with a spark show!

all of the U.S. There, Kelvin’s crew, OUTCAST
KUSTOMS from the CMT show “Trick My
Truck,” have put together some of the finest custom big rigs in the country. Paint,
engine, metal fabrications – if it involves
trucks, Kelvin and his staff know how to
get it done. He is a true truck-customizing innovator who is known as the guy
who can build a vison when everyone

chrome. This is what the Carlisle staff
sticks around for late on Saturday nights
and one of the highlights of the event.

MEET THEM THIS WEEKEND!
Elizabeth Truck Center and its sister company Car Craft Truck Works, combined,
simply known as ETC, continue to raise
the bar and set new standards in the
trucking industry. Everyone should be
familiar with their Build Off creation, “The
Beast,” which they believe revolutionized
the way the industry looks at custom
trucks. Since then ETC has gone on to
further impress with a makeover of a classic 1980 A-Model Kenworth, aptly named
“Bride of the Beast”, an over the top urban
assault vehicle, G-UNIT, transformed from
a showroom-new 2006 Peterbilt 379, the
restoration and finely detailed rebuild of
a vintage 1966 Peterbilt. “The Punisher”
is one of the most incredible Kenworths

on the road, and an outrageous, off the
hook, custom International ProStar, “Mayhem”, and let’s not forget “The Predator”,
imitated, but never duplicated. Who
would want to see that bearing down
on them in their rear view mirror? The
fun never stops at ETC; they’ve always
got something new, or two, in the works.
They showcase their builds at a handful
of shows each year, accompanied by their
mobile chrome shop. They enjoy getting
out and meeting the people that keep
the wheels turning every day.
K & L Chrome Shop opened its doors
on November 19, 2001 in Florence, SC.
At their facility they have custom metal
fabrication, custom fiberglass, and a
paint and body shop. K & L Chrome Shop
is now a leader in truck customization.
They pride themselves in being able to
give their customers total customization
on their ride. In their fabrication shop
they make custom bumpers, drop visors, deck plates, tank wraps … anything
made out of stainless or aluminum. For
example, a customer can go to their shop
and sit in his truck, point to a spot on the
windshield and they will make the visor
exactly to meet that measurement! They
are known for doing what other shops
won’t do or can’t do. Because of their innovations in the trucking industry they
were able to fill the vacancy on “Trick My
Truck.” When they began the show they
formed “Outcast Kustoms.” They figured
truckers are considered outcasts and
they are too! Outcast Kustoms and K &
L Chrome Shop have been formed from
strong trucking roots with their families
being in the trucking business for years;
they understand truckers and the trucking culture. Stop by their shop off I-95 at

THE VIRGINIA GIANT
The Virginia Giant with driver Diehl
Wilson, has been a crowd-pleaser for
over two decades. The Virginia Giant is
a 2002 Ford with a body by GTS Fiberglass, powered by a 1,500-hp 572-ci supercharged, fuel-injected Keith Black
Hemi. The Giant’s engine was built by
Sassy Racing Engines, and the power
plant is accompanied by a three-speed
Lenco transmission with a Crowler
clutch and SCS gearbox. The Virginia
Giant walks on 66-inch Firestone Terra
tires. With the Patrick Enterprises chassis beneath her, Virginia Giant weighs
in at 10,000 pounds, stands 11 feet, 10
inches tall and 11 feet, 8 inches wide.
SAMSON
Like the Virginia Giant, Samson was
built by Dan Patrick of Patrick Enterprises. Patrick has built over 70 monster trucks including famous competitors like Big Foot and Grave Digger.

that produces 1,400 lbs/ft of torque!

WATCH AS TWO TRUCKS ARE TRANSFORMED
Two trucks will be modified this weekend at the Carlisle Truck Nationals. With
a lot of help from our sponsors, two
trucks will be outfitted with suspension
systems, new wheels, tires and bed covers. Modifications will occur in Building
T. Skyjacker has offered a suspension
kit with wheels and tires from Mickey
Thompson. Skyjacker and A&A Auto
Parts staff will be conducting installs of
the lift kit. Ground Force Suspension and
More Than Tires have plans to help us
lower a truck as well.
Extang, Bed Rug and Truxedo are
joining us this year to put the finishing
touches on, with new truck bed liners
installed at the event. We will introduce

SEE THESE VIETNAM-ERA GUN TRUCKS ON SATURDAY
Truck and military vehicle fans will have
the opportunity to see one of the largest
gatherings of Vietnam Gun Trucks. During the week of August 1-7, the U.S. Army
Heritage & Education Center in Carlisle,
PA and the Carlisle Truck Nationals will be
home to the reunion of Vietnam-era U.S.
Army Transportation Veterans, referred to
as “The Gathering.”
The Gathering has offered to showcase and bring as many as 10 of these
five-ton, heavily armed and armored
trucks as well as a number of other Vietnam War era vehicles. The display will include gun truck veterans, literature and
displays on U.S. Army history as well as
living history persons portraying Vietnam War Soldiers.
Unlike like the MRAP (Mine Resistant
Armor Protected) of today’s Army, these
armored and armed vehicles were developed and engineered in the field for
the rough service of the Vietnam jungle.
Two and one quarter- and five-ton trucks
were modified by the soldiers in Vietnam
to meet the transportation protection
and mission needs. Each truck has a

unique history and much like the bomber aircraft of WWII, each truck was personalized by the soldiers that created it.
Names like Ace of Spades, Meat Wagon
and Untouchable are just a few of the vehicles that will be present.

The not-for-profit American Truck Historical Society was formed in 1971 to preserve the history of trucks,
the trucking industry, and its pioneers. The American Trucking Association officially recognizes the ATHS
as the “duly authorized organization founded to record and develop trucking industry historical data.”
Today, the ATHS has over 21,000 members with 110 of them being part of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter chartered in 1992. Members of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter agree on one thing - old trucks are
fun! This chapter hosts a truck show at the Kenworth of PA dealership in Carlisle every August and a
Tri-State show in Winchester, VA every September. They will be here this weekend, showcasing some of
their vehicles. We are pleased to welcome them to Carlisle and hope that you will take the time to visit
their display, ask questions and learn more about the American Truck Historical Society. Look for their
showcase around the pavilion this weekend.

The club was born at the first Carlisle
Truck show. It all started when two
members of the now defunct Central
Connecticut Street Trucks parked next
to a group of guys from PA and ended
up hanging out together for the entire
weekend. The question we get most often is how we came up with the name. It
was first used because we wanted to join
in on the volleyball tournament and we
found out only clubs could join so we had
to come up with a club name. We then
went on to win ALL of the tournaments!
1995 was the first year for the swimming
pool. We have to give a huge thanks to
all of the former and current Carlisle staff,
owners and especially security at the
Fairgrounds. If they didn’t have a great
sense of humor…and a lot of patience…
we couldn’t have accomplished so much.
Nobody ever truly leaves the Purple Helmet Surfers…you’re a member for life!
