 Treatment for Skin cancer

Four types of Radiation
Alpha Radiation (a)
 Beta Radiation (B)
 Positron emission (B+)
 Gamma Radiation (y)

Applications of Nuclear
Radiation
Diagnosis of Thyroid Disease
 Drink Iodine-131
 Iodine uptake is measured
 “Iodized” Salt!

Radioactive Tacers

Radioactive atoms that are in corporated
into substances so that movement of the
substances so that movement of the
substances can be followed by radiation
detectors.
Cancer Treatment
Radiation therapy you can use by using
high energy to kill tumor cells.
 If you have cancer and the Doctors do
radiation on you the radiation will kill
good cells and bad cells.
 Once they do radiation there could be
some side effects like nausea and
fatigue.

Skin Cancer
damages and destroys the cancer cells.
 The main type for treatment for people
with skin cancer is a x-ray.
 gamma rays and electron beams are
sometimes used to treat skin cancer.

Using Radiation for Brain
Tumors
To stop or slows the growth of the tumor.
 Chemotherapy will help the radiation
better or lessen effect on normal parts of
the brain.

Liver Disease
