A career milestone was scoring the winning goal in a group stage match for Nigeria against Spain in the 1998 World Cup. Andy Townsend The England-born midfielder played for the Republic of Ireland in two World Cups and was captain of the side in the 1994 World Cup (he qualified for Ireland due to his grandmother being Irish). Marcel Desailly Frenchman 'Le Rock' started his international career at FC Nantes, and won two league titles and the 1994 UEFA Championship with AC Milan. But it was at Chelsea where he made his mark. Sammy Kuffour A Ghana international for 13 years, he won his first cap as a 17 year old and became captain of the international team at 23. He has been touted as the greatest African defender of all time. John Dykes A renowned sports TV presenter and lead anchor for the Barclays Premier League global broadcasts, John Dykes has also hosted a broad range of sports, from tennis and F1 to cricket. Shaun Bartlett This formidable striker has had an impressive career. He's played for FC Zürich, Charlton Athletic and Kaizer Chiefs. He holds the title of being the second all-time leading scorer for Bafana Bafana. Doctor Khumalo A midfield maestro during his professional career, Doctor Khumalo was capped 50 times playing for Bafana Bafana and scored nine goals. He also played internationally in the USA and Argentina. Andre Arendse The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper became the oldest professional footballer in South African history when he retired at 45. He played 67 games for his country. goal John Barnes MBE The legendary midfielder represented England 79 times. He spent most of his professional career playing for Liverpool.
