bales are available to purchase. Be sure and check out the fall merchandise

Which fitness class is right for me?
Parks Plus Fitness Center offers a variety of
classes to challenge everyone from the novice
to the advanced participant. Our certified,
experienced instructors will guide you
through your workout, providing options for
movements that are more or less intense, high
or low impact. All of our classes are taught
multilevel, so that persons of various fitness
levels can enjoy the same class. As a general
rule, the “challenge classes” are taught at
an intermediate/advanced level. If you have
questions or concerns about which class is
right for you, please contact the group exercise
coordinator at 630.510.5127.

rope, chairs, etc.) as equipment to improve
strength, flexibility and fitness.

This 45-minute ballet based toning and
flexibility class is designed to develop long,
lean muscles, increase flexibility and improve
posture. Classical music and graceful
movements bring out the ballerina in you!
Basic Boot Camp
This class is for those just getting back into exercise, or for those who want a good workout that
provides modifications for all levels. We’ll utilize
cardio and strength training drills to challenge
the entire body!
Body Sculpt

combos that are easy to learn, low impact but
high intensity. This class incorporates various
types of aerobic activities including Hi/Lo,
Zumba, Kickboxing, Interval Training and
Step. Class type changes from week to week to
keep you challenged! Abdominal exercises are
included.
Core Flow
This dance-inspired class strengthens the entire
body with emphasis on the abdominal area. No
previous dance experience required…just a
love of movement!
Fit Yoga

and body connection to increase flexibility,
strength, power, balance, posture and focus.

An intense interval class that incorporates
cardio and resistance training. Fast paced, yet
fun and easy to do!

between step cardio and resistance training
for a total body workout, all the while keeping
your heart rate up. Ratios may vary from class
to class.
Tone “N” Tighten (TNT)
Firm and strengthen the entire body in this
45-minute express class! Using a variety of
equipment, this class gets you looking dynamite
in no time.

routine or can be your warm-up!
Yogalattes

class that incorporates the best moves from
Yoga and Pilates. Class is taught at an
intermediate level, but modifications are given
to challenge beginners to advanced.
This intermediate/advanced strength training
class incorporates full body movements that
challenge the muscles as well as the cardio
system. Experience this dynamic conditioning
class that focuses on developing total body
power.
Get tight yet relaxed in this intermediate class
for the experienced yoga student. This class
focuses on more advanced Hatha yoga postures,
and you’ll soon learn to love those three little
words…“hover, hover, hover!”
Pure Pilates
Yoga Mixer
Firm and strengthen your entire body in our
ever-popular weight-training class. You’ll use
a variety of resistance (hand weights, tubing,
bands, etc.) to challenge the muscles and create
that toned body you’ve always dreamed of!
Get solid with this class of solid Pilates! We’ll
focus on creating long, lean, incredibly strong
muscles. Modifications are taught to
accommodate the beginning to intermediate
student. Learn a new way to “scoop” (no, not
ice cream!) your way to health and fitness.
Cardio Core Challenge
Spin
This intermediate/advanced level class utilizes
high intensity aerobic moves and full body,
core-strengthening intervls. We’ll use a variety
of equipment for fun! Some choreography
involved. Modifications for low/high impact are
always provided.
This 55-minute cycling class gets you working
harder than you ever thought possible in a
group exercise class! You’ll be inspired by the
music and instructor who leads you through
aerobic endurance intervals – a series of flats,
hills, strength and speed plays.
Cardio Kickbox
Spin Interval
This full hour aerobic workout combines
punching and kicking techniques in an easyto-follow yet intense format. The strength and
endurance segment focuses on form and stabilization skills in this ultimate fat-burning class.
Step Interval
A great workout that incorporates traditional
spin and full body strength training. A ratio
of 10 minutes spinning to 3 minutes of plyo
squats, push ups, and lunges, challenges even
the most seasoned spinner!
Yoga Butt, Back & Abs
Open to all – from beginner to advanced.
Start with what you are able to do, then advance
at your own pace using slow, controlled movements to strengthen and stretch your muscles
through a series of poses called asanas. Relieve
stress and calm the mind by learning deepbreathing exercises and relaxation techniques.
Zumba!
Zumba combines high energy, motivating music
with unique dance combinations from Latin and
other international dance styles. It’s a mixture of
body sculpting movements and easy-to-follow
dance steps that maximize your caloric output,
fat burning, and total body toning. It’s so much
fun that it takes “work” out of your workout!

can be foreseen. Depending on the particular activity, participants must
understand that certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather,
slipping, falling, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness, horseplay,
unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities/programs do
exist. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the
district to guarantee absolute safety.

the permit will be issued and must be kept with the person renting the
park at all times during the specified time period. Photo Permits are

Scout Badge Programs
The Wheaton Park District offers programs for most levels of Girl Scouts and
Cub Scouts. Many of our programs correlate to certain badge requirements
set forth by the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. and Boy Scouts of America. Offered
at Lincoln Marsh, Cosley Zoo, Parks Plus Fitness Center, Toohey Park Safety
City, Northside Park, and Rice Pool and Water Park, these fee-based programs
help scouts learn about nature, zoo life and fitness through hands-on, educational activities. If you would like more information on scout badge programs,
please call the facility from which you are interested in receiving information.
Pesticides Reduction: To Play or Not to Play
The Wheaton Park District works hard to provide the highest quality turf
areas for its soccer, football and baseball programs. Traditionally, substantial
amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides have been used to promote
healthy turf. The park district has reduced its use of pesticides for the benefit
of the public and the environment. Turf takes a beating when it’s used–this
is normal and accepted. However, when fields are used during or right after
periods of rain, serious damage usually occurs. Plants are uprooted, holes
and divits are formed, the soil becomes compacted, and large areas of mud
are left behind. The turf will not recover by itself. Labor and chemicals are
needed to restore the field, or the field may need to be closed for up to
one year before it is usable. The park district asks coaches and parents to
please reschedule or cancel games and practices if the turf is too wet. If
you have questions, please contact the Parks and Planning Department at
630.871.2857.
Athletic Field Use Guidelines
We are all committed to provide high quality, safe playing surfaces for our
multi-use athletic facilities, but we need the help and consideration of all
user groups in protecting the turf from excessive damage due to game and
practice activities. The turf grass is the safety surface for the athletic fields. If
any of the following conditions occur, scheduled games and practices must
be canceled or postponed.
1. Standing water on the field of play.
2. Soil saturation:
• Walking on turf causes water to surface
• Walking on turf on heels causes indentations
• One inch or more of rain 48 hours prior to scheduled game or practice
accompanied by steady rain on game or practice day.
• Steady downpour of rain on game or practice day which could cause damage to turf or injury to participants.
3. Extreme drought conditions where 50% of the playing surface has turned
dormant.
4. Audible thunder or visible lightning.
5. Visibility (darkness)
All coaches, referees, and umpires are responsible for insuring the safety of
field playing conditions at all times during scheduled play. Safety implies
protection of the resource as well as the participants.
