"Pay It Forward!"/"Who I Am Makes A Difference" Helping Others Drive Information As we enter November & December, the holiday season, we feel this is the perfect opportunity for all of us to model our two philosophies, "Pay It Forward! & "Who I Am Makes A Difference" to help others. Therefore we have planned three major activities to promote caring for others, both people & animals. Each of the activities outlined in the information letter in the “Newsletter” section of our website provide excellent opportunities to teach the lesson of caring & helping others, “Paying It Forward!” & “Who I Am Makes A Difference”. You can discuss why it is important to lend a hand at times, do a good deed & be kind to others. Help us; help others with the Food Drive, Humane Society Drive and Book Drive. Thank you in advance for you’re caring and support!!! Our Food Drive to help our sister school, Collins Elementary, continues this week. Thank you for helping us "Pay It Forward! & "Make A Difference" by making others' Thanksgiving holiday better! Our Drive for the Humane Society of Broward begins on November 23rd through Friday, December 4th. Help us, help our furry friends with used blankets, towels and toys. Our Holiday Book Drive for West Hollywood Elementary begins on Monday, December 7th and goes through December 15th. Help us promote the joy of reading and "Feed the Mind!" See Details in the “Newsletter” section of our website, RECYCLING IS IMPORTANT November 15, 2009 was America Recycles Day (ARD). ARD is a national event that focuses on the importance of recycling and buying products made with recycled content. In celebration of this event, Recycle Florida Today, Creative Recycling Systems, Publix Super Markets and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection are pleased to announce the SIXTH annual Florida (K-12) Schools Recycling Pledge Card Contest. It has never been more important to recycle. The average American creates over a ton of trash per year, over half of which could be recycled and most often is wasted instead. Every person can make a difference and that is what ARD is all about. The contest: This contest is designed to reward three Florida schools for submitting the greatest number of recycling pledge cards. By completing a recycling pledge card, individuals are committing to do more to protect the environment through their recycling efforts. By signing a pledge, students are also helping put their school one step closer to winning a computer, and are eligible for a state-wide drawing. All students are encouraged to get family members, friends, neighbors and others to make the pledge. PLEASE MAKE SURE The pledge card includes the full name of the school and the teacher’s name. Contest entries not containing the full name of the school and the teacher’s name will not be counted. All pledge cards are due to Dr. Perez, no later than November 25th, 2009.
