Dedicated Breast Radiologists
Preparing for a Mammogram
Before scheduling a mammogram, GMC and the
American Cancer Society recommend that you discuss
any problems with your doctor. Inform them of any
prior surgeries, hormone use and family/personal
history of breast cancer.

at Gwinnett Medical Center
• Do not wear deodorant, talcum powder or
lotion under your arms or on your breasts the
day of your exam. These can appear on the
mammogram as calcium spots.
• Describe any breast symptoms or problems to
the technologist performing the exam.
• If your prior mammograms were not performed
at a GMC facility, please obtain the results
and/or images and provide them to the
radiologist at the time of the current exam.
• Follow-up with your physician to discuss the
results of your mammogram.
Latest Technology
All of our locations are fully digital. Digital
mammography uses computers and detectors
to produce an image that can be displayed on a
high-resolution computer monitor, transmitted and
stored like computer files. Unlike film-based, digital
mammograms produce images that appear on the
monitor in seconds. There is no waiting for film to
develop, meaning shorter exam times.
We utilize Computer Aided Detection (CAD) in all
mammography exams. It highlights areas that may be
associated with cancer.
Care-a-Van Mobile Mammography
Our mobile mammography service brings digital
mammography detection right to your work site.
The Care-a-Van is convenient for your employees
and a cost containment strategy for your business.
All images are interpreted by board-certified
