1. Purpose
1.1 To record all treatments, health conditions, heats, calvings, breedings,
deaths and animals sold

Anything pertaining to herd health must be registered in the appropriate
places and recorded in the Treatment Book. From the Treatment Book
the data is entered into the individual animal files in the computer
All treatments, medications, vaccinations, procedures; surgical, dehorning etc
signs of illness / lameness / heats, temperatures, test results, magnets MUST
be recorded in the Dairy Office Treatment Book IMMEDIATELY after they
have been done. This will prevent them from being done twice
Check off the appropriate boxes where prescribed treatments are listed. e.g.
Resumé de Visite (Generated by the vet from the individual animal files on
the computer after bi-weekly vet visits) and from the Treatment Sheet in the
Blue Binder which is for treatments that have been necessary between vet
visits.
The current Treatment sheet is found on the opposite page to the current page
of the Resumé de visite in the Blue Binder beside the Treatment Book on the
Dairy Office desk
The Calf Treatment Book is on the counter in the food preparation section of
Necropsy, it is used to register scour treatments and additional notes. If a calf
is being treated with Antibiotics it will be written in the Blue Binder on the
Treatment Sheet in the Dairy Office along with all cow / heifer treatments and

MUST be entered IMMEDIATELY in the Dairy Office Treatment Book and the
appropriate box checked off on the Treatment sheet or Resumé de Visite.
Scour tabs, Aspirin and Calf Lyte treatments for calves with scours will be
recorded directly from the Calf Treatment Book into the Dairy Office Treatment
Book at the end of the treatment
Anyone giving treatments, ear tagging calves etc. is responsible for recording
it in the Treatment Book
Milk crews are responsible for relaying and recording information on the
Observation Sheet
After breeding, the information from the last Breeding Slip MUST be recorded
directly into the Treatment Book before the papers are filed
Data in the Treatment Book is entered into the individual animal’s files into the
DSA Laitier program on the computer. It MUST be done regularly to keep the
files current. This is the resposibility of someone designated by the Dairy
manager or the Farm Manager.
