research and design work from the Sabin+Jones LabStudio examining scale-free networks
This project is based upon experiments conducted within LabStudio, as well as within the
NonLinear Systems Biology Cluster/Smart Geometry Workshop at the Instituto de Arquitectura
Avanzada de Catalunya where Sabin and Jones were invited as visiting tutors. The final
installation was exhibited at Design Hub (DHUB), Barcelona, Spain

Sabin and Jones chosen to be inaugural design/science residents at Breadboard Gallery and
NextFab Studio, Philadelphia Breadboard is a hybrid program at the University City Science
Center that facilitates cross-disciplinary art exhibits, community outreach initiatives and special
programs offering public access to a new generation of fabrication technologies and workspace
in an effort to empower individuals and convene communities around creative applications of

Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) International Visualization challenge, and
is featured on the cover of Science magazine “The NSF/AAAS International Visualization
Challenge recognizes outstanding achievement in the use of visual media to promote
understanding of research results and scientific phenomena. The judges’ criteria for evaluating

Peter Lloyd Jones and Jenny Sabin co-found Sabin+Jones Labstudio. LabStudio jointly
investigates processes in biology, medicine and design at the digital, visual, fabrication,
mechanistic and quantitative levels, and in turn explores the potential reapplication of these
digital and algorithmic tools to architecture and biomedicine. LabStudio was founded and is
co‐directed by Jenny E. Sabin, M.Arch. & Peter Lloyd Jones, Ph.D., and has/is funded, in part, by
the National Science Foundation, the Graham Foundation, Bentley Systems, The American
Institute of Architects (AIA), PennDesign, the UPenn Vice Provost for Research Facilities

Genevieve Dion Couture: Design, Marketing and Business Partner Dion is a world-renowned
textile artist, fashion designer, educator and is currently director of fashion at Drexel University,
Philadelphia. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including within the de Young
Museum in San Francisco, the Textile Museum in Washington D.C., and The Victoria and Albert
(V&A) Museum. Her work resides within the permanent collections of the V&A and The Nippon
Foundation in Japan. Peter took part in each phase of development and marketing of Dion’s
work, including design and marketing of couture garments and hand-made textiles.
