Most Cloth Diapers Changed
Guinness World Record Set
5,026 Participants — 127 Locations
On Saturday, April 23 at 9:30 am PST, Tiny
Tots hosted one of 221 cloth diaper
changing events. 59 participants in
Campbell contributed toward setting
the Guinness World Record of 5,026.
Tiny Tots owner, Judy Aagard, had
a desire to celebrate Earth Day by
hosting a family event for the Tiny
Tots community. Her desire quickly
morphed into a dream to set a Guinness
World Record for the most cloth diapers
changed simultaneously. Shortly thereafter, The Great Cloth Diaper
Change 2011 was conceived and organized by a small group of cloth
diaper enthusiasts that were eager to show North America that cloth
diapers are a real option for today’s families.
The initial plan was to develop an infrastructure for any cloth diapering
fan in North America to be able to get involved in, either as a participant
or an organizer. Word quickly traveled across the oceans and it was
soon evident that cloth diapering has a formidable following not just in
North America but around the world. Eleven countries hosted locations
even though for some it meant getting up in the middle of the night
to do so.
Aagard’s vision for celebrating cloth diapering included collecting
donations for the Real Diaper Association. The RDA provides grassroots
support and education to parents for the use of simple, reusable cloth
diapers. They aim to create a cultural shift in understanding cloth diaperstheir environmental impact, their ease of use, their accessibility, and
their acceptability. Donations collected during the Great Cloth Diaper
Change are currently over $2,500 with more still coming in. To donate

Last year, 49 children died from heat stroke when they were unattended
in a vehicle. Data shows that between 1998-2010, 494 children have
died this way. That is an average of 38 deaths per year. Kids were alone
in cars in one of three ways: they were unintentionally “forgotten”
when a distracted driver arrived at their destination and left the vehicle
with a child inside; they left their car doors unlocked and unsupervised
and kids gained access or they intentionally left the child alone while
they ran an errand. Safe Kids Buckle Up (SKBU) has launched a national
initiative to increase awareness to caregivers and deputize the public
to act on behalf of any child they may see unattended in vehicles.
Bystanders are encouraged to call 911 immediately. A child could face

Retardant Materials
An easy way to have us audit your diaper
inventory is to fill in the blank on the
label on our blue hamper liner bag where
it says “Diapers left at home: _____”
When we add up the number left + the
soiled count + the number of diapers
delivered that day, we can determine if
your rotation is correct. Some customers
do this every week. Some do it once a
month. If you are on two or more types of diapers, please note which

One of the primary reasons Orbit Baby was founded, according to cofounder Joseph Hei, was to push for making greener and safer baby
gear. Orbit Baby has cared for a long time about the chemical safety
of the strollers and car seats that they design and manufacture, and
they have always gone above and beyond the current regulations on
the harmful chemicals used as flame retardants.
In support of the general importance of this topic, the Green Science
Policy Institute recently published a study calling attention to
potentially harmful flame retardant chemicals used in children’s
products. In the study, chemicals associated with health risks were
found in 80% of the baby products tested, including car seats and
strollers.
Along with the study, The Green Science Policy Institute published The
Safe Kids Buyer’s Guide, in which Orbit Baby is highlighted as one of
only four companies doing the hard work necessary to provide baby
products free of harmful chemicals.

Blossom Birth and Tiny Tots Partner to Support
Environmentally Conscious Parenting Choices
Blossom Birth, a nonprofit educational organization based in Palo Alto
provides classes, resources and community to new and expectant
couples. Blossom is expanding their services to include a selection of

The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends the use of
physcial sunscreen on babies, even under 6 months of age (however, it’s
best to keep them out of the sun). Physical sunscreen’s natural active
ingredients are Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (natural minerals).

DIAPER SERVICE OPTIONS
Cotton Service: Order the number of cotton diapers you will
use in a week. Cotton service includes the rental of cotton diapers,
professional laundering of the diapers and weekly pick-up and
delivery of the diapers.
Compost Service: Purchase your order of compostable single-use
diapers, wipes and storage bags from Tiny Tots. A minimum of 4 boxes
of diapers needs to be purchased each 4-week period. A composting
fee is included in the purchase of each box of diapers.
Combination Service: You have the option to use both cotton
and compostable diapers. For added convenience, soiled reusable and
compostable, single-use diapers and wipes can be combined in one
bag for pick-up. You can order compost diapers as often or seldom
as fits your needs. The composting fee is included in the purchase
of each box of diapers.

New and expectant parents learn skills in this two hour class that will enable
them to recognize basic infant emergencies such as sudden respiratory/cardiac
arrest and choking, and how to respond to them. Students participate in handson practice using infant mannequins. This is a non-certification class.
Pediatric First Aid (IWS)
As your child becomes more mobile and begins to explore, experiencing ‘boo
boos’ becomes inevitable. This workshop covers simple first aid measures to
take for head injury falls, bleeding, burns, insect bites and stings.
Not sure how to get started with the potty training process? This workshop
will focus on common sense approaches as outlined in, Diaper-Free Before 3 by
Dr. Jill Lekovic. We will demonstrate why introducing the potty to your child's
routine as early as 6-months of age is a logical approach.
