VISUAL EXAMS
Easily detect active periodontal disease that
can hide beneath the gumline and out of sight.
FLIPPING THE LIP
WON’T DO THE TRICK
Visual awake exams (VAEs) just aren’t enough1,2:
A recent study found that in healthy looking dogs, the VAE had
0% sensitivity in detecting active periodontal disease2
The VAE was only 6% accurate in determining the severity of
active periodontal disease in dogs with only mild inflammation2
Disease may still be present in dogs showing little to no visible signs.
