SHODA began by building routing machinery
for woodworking.
But over the years, and especially after developing the world’s first CNC router, our product line
has grown to include processing machinery for a full array of end products. From musical instruments, furniture, and household materials on the lighter side, to parts for big-ticket items like
railroad freight cars, ships, airplanes, and even the space shuttle, some parts of each of these groups
have been machined on a SHODA. SHODA will continue to play an active role in the way that so
many of the products in our everyday lives are manufactured.

The Machine Structure
The large body structures reduce our CNC routers’ divisions. Each is
designed with consideration toward balance and strength. The ribbing is
sized and placed in accordance to strictly calculated structural analysis.
Each component is machined to exacting tolerances so as to
minimize vibration. All the machine work, assembly, and quality control
functions are done in a SHODA factory.

All SHODA routers are equipped with SHODA spindles. From the beginning, SHODA
has designed and developed our own spindles. With an early eye on high frequency
motor development and maximizing vibration suppression, SHODA was the first to
develop a 20,000 and then 30,000-rpm spindle.
Additionally, we maintain stable rotary control from the low to high spindle speeds and
utilize spindle and AC motors with the highest low-end torque.
SHODA spindles are “close tolerance” machined to minimize
vibration and ensure decades of reliability and performance.

Since then, through original concepts, technologies, and numerous patents, Shoda has
contributed many improvements in manufacturing practices worldwide. In 1968, under the
tutelage of our second president, Mr.Isao Shoda, we invented the world’s first NC Router, a
computer-controlled machine which automated the engraving of wood.
