ABOUT ACT, Inc
Automated Cutting Technologies, Inc was founded in Lexington, Kentucky by
Rodney Worley in 1996. Even in the early days of operation, Rodney envisioned the need
of a specialized CNC Routing and Machining Service to fulfill the needs of his clients,
while maintaining their bottom line. Since then ACT, Inc has grown from a 1 man shop
operating out of a tiny garage bay to a 43,000 ft² state of the art facility utilizing the latest
technology and techniques to best serve our customers’ exacting demands.

ACT is now a full service Panel Processing facility that is capable of not only
machining the most demanding projects, ACT now has the capability to cut, assemble,
laminate or paint and warehouse any project that may be ask of it. No job is too big or
too small, to easy or intricate. Every project is treated with the same discerning care
regardless of its size.
OUR PEOPLE
The employees at Automated Cutting Technologies, Inc love their work and strive
to achieve consistent, first class craftsmanship on every job no matter the size. We do not
know the meaning of the words missed deadline or “I can’t”; it just is not in us. Each
project is like a personal challenge, we MUST get it right and we MUST do it on time.
Rodney Worley, Owner, personally takes time to work the different stations on
the plant floor and talk with production staff to insure that all are doing the best they can
at the best price for the customer. Before creating ACT, Inc he designed CNC routers
and traveled throughout North America and Europe teaching companies new Router
techniques to utilize in their manufacturing processes.
Steve Hampton, Plant Manager, loves to get away from the plant by relaxing and
programming the CNC machines, he is a hands-on leader with a degree in Electrical
Engineering Technologies. Steve spent several years designing CNC controls and later
worked for a fortune 500 company as a test engineer.
Jonathan Reed runs the finishing department and does not know the meaning of
“good enough”. Each and every job MUST be completed to his perfecting standards.
I could name every employee of Automated Cutting Technologies, Inc and list
example after example of the “can do” spirit and uncompromising quality they possess.
The point is, we all love our work and bring years of experience with us to work every
day to ensure you and your customers are NEVER disappointed with the delivered
product.

1. Superfici Compact UV Paint Line. The cutting edge of the “green” movement,
this automated finishing line is designed to spray all types of paint products. It is
primarily used to spray water borne UV paint that is environmentally friendly
with no VOC’s or HAPS. Due to the robotic spray system coupled with a reclaim
unit, paint yields are increased between 75% and 100%. This is a tremendous
savings that is passed directly to our customer. Best of all it enables us to produce
a “green” product helping to ensure a cleaner environment for generations to
come. More details can be found in the “Finishing” section of this pamphlet.
2. Epilogue Legend EXT Laser. This is a 2’ x 3’ dual head 120 watt laser. This
machine provides acrylic cuts that are cleaner than flame polishing without the
extra work. It can cut woods, plastics, solid surface, rubber, leather and much
more. It can burn wood to create a look as if the part has been branded or burnt.
In addition it can etch metals, glass, marble, even stainless steel.
3. ACT 6000 CNC Router. This is a machine that Rodney Worley and Steve
Hampton built to start ACT, Inc. The CNC 6000 is a 65” x 148” CNC Router. It
is capable of machining composite and hard wood products as well as copper,
brass, aluminum, foams and plastics. It can also machine incised carved letters to
give a hand carved effect.
4. Thermwood Model 40 CNC Router. This is a 4’ x 8’ machine that has a 5
position, head mounted typewriter tool changer designed for extremely fast tool
changes to insure maximum performance. This machine also utilizes an
aggregate tool holder for horizontal boring, sawing and profiling for v-groove and
bead board panels.
5. Shoda 4 Head Pallet Changing CNC Router. This is a Dual Table 5’ x 8-1/2’
4 Headed CNC Router that is capable of continuous production. It can cut 4
identical parts at the same time and once the sheet is finished the machine
automatically unloads and loads another sheet in 20 seconds. When you need a
lot of parts fast at a low price this is the machine to use.
6. Thermwood Model 42 CNC Router. This is a 5’ x 10’ 4 axis router with twin
5’ x 5’ beds to allow for continuous production. One bed is always active while
the other is being loaded and unloaded. It has a 5 position, head mounted
typewriter tool changer designed for extremely fast tool changes to insure
maximum performance as well as a 4 position rear tool changer for larger shaper
type tooling. This machine also utilizes an aggregate tool holder for horizontal
boring, sawing and profiling for v-groove and bead board panels.

7. Morbidelli U550 point to point. This is a CNC router and boring machine like
no other. With it we can size and shape panels with 2 routers heads as well as a
4th axis saw unit. Once cut to size we can do gang boring utilizing (30) 32mm
vertical and (10) horizontal boring banks. This machine has the ability to figure
out and automatically cut left and right cabinet sides at the same time. When
making cabinet sides this machine is the machine of choice. It can make 4 sides
in the time it takes the Thermwood Model 42 Router to make 1.
8. Holz Her 1528 Case Clamp. This is a 15’ long x 6’ tall dual zone case clamp for
rapid assembly of case goods. We can assemble 2 cabinets at a time on this single
clamp. When utilized with the Morbidelli U550 we can make hundreds of
cabinets in a single day.
9. Schelling 200.211 Rear Load Beam Saw. This is a 10’ beam saw capable of
sawing multiple sheets (up to 5”) of wood, metal, laminates, foam, hard wood or
other sheets goods at one time. With the high speed rear load option the saw
automatically loads the next run of parts while the saw is finishing the current cut.
Melamine and laminated board are no problem because this saw has a full time
counter rotating scoring blade to keep the cuts as clean and precise as could ever
be desired.
10. Holzma HPP-81 Beam Saw with Scoring Blade. This is a 12 ½’ beam saw
capable of sawing multiple sheets (up to 5”) of wood, metal, laminates, foam,
hard wood or other sheets goods at one time. This saw also has scoring to make
clean cuts in melamine and laminates.
11. SCM Superset 23 plus Molder. This 6 head molder allows high speed lineal
processing of simple base board or complex crown molding in hardwood or MDF.
12. Dell Vedove Profile Sander. This 9 headed profile sander allows us to sand
moldings with any profile just like it was a flat surface. This is achieved by using
sanding disks that are ground to match the profile that is to be sanded. If there is
a flat surface there are 2 belts sanders on the machine as well.
13. HOLZ-her 1408 Edgebander. This Edgebander is capable of applying PVC,
laminate and solid wood up to ¾” thick by 2 ¼” Tall.
14. Quickwood Elite 1100 Contour Sander. Designed to compliment the UV
Finishing Line; allows processing of raised panel doors or other contoured
surfaces for whitewood and sealer sanding at a rate and quality that can support
and keep up with the automated finishing system.
15. Holt Melt Technologies PUR Gluing System. PUR based gluing system that
allows for fastener-less construction. This is not a “hot melt system” as you know
it. The glues are highly engineered for each application to ensure adhesion that
will not fail before the sub straight.

conjunction with the PUR Gluing system to insure rapid assembly of product
while maintaining consistent tolerances. On one project last this system allowed
2,000 seven piece drawers to be assembled by 3 men in 2 days.
17. Black Brothers Laminating Line. Semi Automated high speed laminating line
used to apply custom laminate to the face and back of panels.
18. Screen Printing Station. In order to reduce handling ACT has brought screen
printing in house as a value added option for projects.
19. Many other support machines. Saws, shapers, planers, sanders and various
other support tools to complete the manufacturing process.
20. Packaging is a breeze with state of the art robotic stretch wrapping machine that
can move anywhere in the plant as easily as a pallet jack. This robot reads the
size of the pallet and can handle ANY size pallet and wrap up to 8 feet tall.
21. Sheet metal break and Sheer. Small tools so limited metal work can be done in
house.
22. Sand blasting system. Used for Signs, faux finishes and preparing metal for

OUR FINISH ROOM EQUIPMENT
Automated Cutting Technologies, Inc takes pride in all its craftsmanship.
Nowhere is that more apparent than in its finishing department. This is where the final
product receives the finishing touches that allow it to stand out among the crowd. Not
only do we take pride in the look of our finishes, but we take pride in preserving the
environment. We achieve this by utilizing as much waterborne UV paint as we can.
Some of the equipment we use in our finish room you will see just about everywhere.
However you will notice in our list a couple of items that really let us stand out and
deliver an outstanding product.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
11,000 ft² isolated finishing room. This room is closed off from the main
plant to ensure the highest quality finishes. There is plenty of room to
allow for free flow of thousands of parts per week.
Superfici Reciprocating Paint Line with UV drying. Utilizing the latest
technology in robotics and paint curing this paint system allows us to
completely finish 1300 average sized raised panel doors per shift. All
while using a water borne seal and top coat that contains 1/10 the Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC’s) and 0 Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS). It
is not limited to doors either; it can finish profiled parts 53” wide by 3”
tall by as long as you can ship!
(2) 10’ paint booths. These booths are used for staining and applying
pigmented finishes on large parts or fixtures.
Matthews paint mixing system. This paint system is used for signage,
metals and plastics. It is engineered with superior bonding agents to
prevent pealing on these sub straights. It is also engineered with UV
blockers to ensure fading due to even direct sunlight in Florida is not a
concern, even when the paint is red! The system is so versatile that it
allows us to plug most vendors’ catalogue number or PMS number into a
computer and produce a perfect match. When this is not possible our
finish room personnel are more than capable of making a match from
scratch.
Stain and Paint Matching. Several different stain and paint matching
systems to match you precise color in house.
Enough racks to hold and process over 5000 parts at one time!

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Automated Cutting Technologies, Inc is dedicated to doing whatever is
reasonably required to ensure the success of a project. What is reasonable can be difficult
to quantify. Here is an example of how far we will go.
Some time ago a customer did not receive a purchase order from the end user
until 4 days after the first item was to be installed. Sound familiar? The end user had the
attitude that everything should be sitting on a shelf waiting to be shipped on the word go.
Now we all face this from time to time and have to just do the best we can. For us “the
best we can” boiled down to 3 main men supervising rotating crews for 36 hours straight.
One finally went home after 24 hours, another at 30 hours and the last after 36 hours
straight. The crews continued to rotate for 1 week, 24 hours per day. We delivered 3 to 4
weeks product in a single week. The point is this; we are in this with our customers and
we will do whatever we have to ensure their, thus our success.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Automated Cutting Technologies, Inc is a loyal 1st and 2nd tier supplier. As such
most of our customers require a non-compete / non-disclosure agreement. We are happy
