Medical Informatics in the Faculty of Medicine was established in 1996. It is a program within the Division of Medical Education Major responsibilities of the position include leadership in the Medical Informatics Program, program development in the Faculty of Medicine and in the Health Informatics Program at Dalhousie University. The Medical/Health Informatics Program at Dalhousie University is Canada’s first collaborative degree granting program in its field. In addition, the incumbent will provide consultation and guidance to faculty members and medical students, clerks and residents, and groups with various educational responsibilities across the medical education curriculum. The incumbent will be expected to make a strong contribution to the mission of the Faculty of Medicine and of the Division of Medical Education in the areas of teaching, research, curriculum development and administration. He/she will lead provincial, national and international medical and health informatics projects and teams, and work with national and provincial informatics organizations. The incumbent will work with the Faculties of Medicine, Computer Science, and Graduate Studies, as well as other non-medical faculty. He/she will promote Medical/Health Informatics and the Dalhousie graduate programs to clinical and non-clinical audiences. The incumbent will teach in the graduate Health Informatics program, supervise students at the master and doctoral levels and foster linkages with existing medical education programs. Qualifications include a PhD in Health Informatics, teaching experience and expertise in the broad area of Medical/Health Informatics. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to conduct collaborative, interdisciplinary research and publish in medical education (Medical/Health Informatics). The incumbent must be eligible for appointment in the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
