Mayor’s Spring & Summer Message
By: Philip Wood
Good Day Everyone!!!
Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. I am sure we are all looking forward to warmer weather
and the joys of returning to the many outdoor activities of the season.
The summer in Bay Roberts looks once again to be a very busy one with such events as the Seafood Festival and
the 20th Edition of Klondyke Days taking place. Look for this year’s Fireworks during Klondyke Days to be one
of our best to date! Many of the events being held during these times and others will be fun - along with of
course, being family friendly ones. There are countless ways you can get involved in the variety of activities that
will be occurring. One can certainly participate and if you can volunteer please do so to help ensure that the
event will be a success. I congratulate and thank all those volunteers and staff members who are currently
involved in planning these activities. We are indeed very fortunate to have such people in our community. To
know what is happening or ongoing, be sure to continuously check our regularly updated calendar of events at
www.bayroberts.com
There will also be a number of construction projects on the go. Primarily, construction this summer will center
on the Shearstown / Goose Pond area as we continue with Council’s water line upgrades. In addition to these
bigger projects that will be ongoing, the Town will have an active Public Works Plan. In particular, it will focus
on repairs and upgrading of the Klondyke Bridge and road work on Kelly’s Road, Coley’s Point. This work plan
also includes repairs and paving projects around Town as soon as weather conditions permit. At this time, I
would like to thank everyone in advance for their understanding and cooperation as we complete some of these
very necessary projects. As a growing Town, these projects are necessary, so please bear with us.
In addition to our Public Works Department, both our Recreation and Tourism Departments have very busy
schedules and plans. Look for upgrades to be completed at various recreation facilities such as the Wilbur
Sparkes Complex and at a variety of our Green Spaces throughout Town.
I conclude, by wishing everyone a safe, enjoyable and fun filled summer. See you this summer in Bay Roberts!!!
