Fan-tastic! Angela and Dr. Jim Sehr met heroes Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic
at their Sleep Train Arena headquarters (above). The fans won a fundraiser auction
to meet the stars and have their vintage picture signed. Taken by Susan Skinner
in 2006 (at right), the double portrait sold for $1,300 and is now embellished with
stars’ signatures and autographs from more of the Kings’ most famous players.

ness couple recently won a chance to meet
two of the NBA’s greatest heroes and turn a
vintage photo into an historical sports treasure.
Angela and husband Dr. Jim Sehr, owners of Advanced Home Health, Hospice and
Advanced Infusion Centers, made a winning
bid in a Carmichael Chamber of Commerce
fundraiser auction. The prize was a 2006
photo of Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic,
shot as the athletes fundraised for their charitable foundation with an all-star bowling
tournament.
The high bidders, who paid $1,300 for the
20x30 inch photo, took it to the final 2016
Sacramento Kings game at Sleep Train
Arena and managed to get
it signed by a dream team
of Kings veterans; including Scott Pollard, Doug
Christie, Bobbie Jackson,
Brad Miller and coach
Rick Adelman. But the
grand slam — as part of the prize — was a
one-on-one meeting to get signatures from
Vlade Divac and Peja Stojakovic.
The basketball rock stars were Kings’
players, and best friends, during the team’s
glory days a decade ago. Their partnership
was rebuilt last year with appointments to
Kings’ front office jobs. Divac, 48, recently
honored as Carmichael’s 2016 Person of the
Year, is now general manager vice president of operations for the team. Stojakovic,
38, is director of player personnel and
development.
Both of Serbian origins, the athletes have
a Carmichael link through Divac’s former
residence in the Kingsford Way neighborhood. The friends still bring family to eat
Greek at Yiannis’ Restaurant on Fair Oaks
Boulevard.
The Carmichael Times features more
exclusive pictures for the 2016 Person of
the Year gala honoring Vlade Divac on
page 2.

Senator Gaines’
Classic Car Collector
Bill Passes
SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) -
Senator Ted Gaines (R-El Dorado)
recently announced that his Senate
Bill 1239, which would exempt
collector vehicles manufactured
prior to the 1981 model year
from biennial smog-check inspections, passed out of the Senate
Committee on Transportation and
Housing with bipartisan support
and is now on its way to the Senate
Committee on Appropriations.
“Collector cars and trucks are
a unique and important part of
California history and need to be
preserved,” said Senator Gaines.
“Extending the exemption to 1981
is a common-sense way to encourage that these vehicles remain on
display for all to see, drive and
enjoy.”
Current law allows smog-check
exemptions for classic or collector cars for vehicles model year
1975 or older. However, there are
many vehicles that were built after
1975 that are currently owned and
operated as collector cars, such as
late seventies and early eighties
Corvettes, Mustangs and Mopars.
Many of these vehicles are featured in classic car shows and
community parades and events
throughout California that help
support the economy.
In order to qualify for the
exemption, owners of classic and
collector vehicles must insure their
cars with collector car insurance.
Collector car insurance places specific mileage restrictions on the
vehicles, as dictated by the insurance company. Vehicles are often
limited to a usage cap of around
5,000 miles in a year. This ensures
the integrity of the vehicle stays
intact, as well as minimizes the
environmental impact that the
smog check regulates.
According to the Association
of California Car Clubs, there
are approximately 162,000 vehicles with model years covered by
this bill. Compared to the approximately 27 million motor vehicles
in California, this bill will provide
an exemption to just over one half
of one percent of vehicles on the
road today.
Senator Ted Gaines represents
the 1st Senate District, which
includes all or parts of Alpine, El
Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada,
Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta,
Sierra and Siskiyou counties.

The Power of Music Closes Generation Gap
River City Chorale’s Spring Concert to Feature Two Young Singers
SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG)
- The younger generation cannot
imagine a world without social
media, while those of us over a
certain age may not be fluent with
anything beyond email, but there is
one thing that we all understand:
the power of music.
While styles may be different,
it is still possible to span the years
separating younger and older singers with beautiful choral music.
Come hear it for yourself, when
the Madrigal Choir of Del Campo
High School, conducted by Pam
Mitchell, joins with the long established River City Chorale in its
Spring Concert, April 29th and
May 1st.
The program with also feature two teenage soloists: Shelby
Pierce, alto, and Colin Regan,
baritone. Shelby has been singing

Shelby has been singing since
she was about four years old. She
enjoys many genres of music, but
her heart belongs to Broadway.

since she was about 4-years-old.
She enjoys many genres of
music, but her heart belongs to
Broadway. Her goal is to go to a
performing arts school and major
in music. Shelby is a junior at Del
Campo High School. Colin sings
with the Waldorf High School
Choir at the George Washington
Carver School of Arts and
Sciences. He plays a number
of musical instruments and is
an award-winning tap dancer
and Irish Dancer. Colin is also a
writer, and his greatest dream is to
write film scores for movies.
The River City Chorale has, in
the last year, launched a Young
Artists Program, the goal of
which is to provide young singers
with the opportunity to perform
for audiences beyond their high
school friends and family, as well
as to have the opportunity to sing
with an established adult group
with professional accompaniment.
They trust that it will be a joyful
and productive meeting of music
lovers across the generations!
The River City Chorale is
the longest existing community
choir in the greater Sacramento
area; it is entering its 40th year
of providing beautiful and
accessible music at convenient
venues. Fifty-five voices strong,
the Chorale is well known for
offering eclectic programs of
both secular and sacred music
that appeal to a very wide audience. Conducted by the talented
Richard Morrissey and accompanied by the highly skilled Theresa
Keene, there will surely be something for everyone to enjoy.
The Friday, April 29th concert will be held at Northminster
Presbyterian Church, 3235 Pope
Avenue, Sacramento, starting at
7:30 pm. On Sunday, May 1st,
the venue is the First Baptist
Church of Fair Oaks, 4401 San
Juan Avenue, starting at 4 p.m.
Tickets are $15 in advance; $20
at the door. Tickets for children
under 12 are $5. Parking is free.

Kings fans, for 25 years, Angela
and Dr. Sehr use their season tickets
for time off from running health centers in Sacramento, San Diego and
Vallejo. Angela has carried a torch for
Stojakovic since his time as a famous
Kings small forward. “I told him he
was my secret boyfriend,” she confessed after meeting her towering
heroes last week.
“Peja and Vlade were kind and
friendly; they even signed caps for my
sons.” Just returned from a businesstrip to China, 6-foot-10-inch Peja was
able to share a few words of Mandarin
with his Chinese-born fan. Meeting
the two stars, said Angela, was “a once
in a life-time experience.”
“I’ll have their picture framed for
my office,” she considered. “So I can
look at them all day.” H

CARMICHAEL COMMUNITY UPDATE
By County Supervisor
Susan Peters
Through the generosity of the
Carmichael Times, this column serves to provide an update
about matters affecting the
unincorporated community of
Carmichael.
District Attorney to Speak
at May Community Meetings
District Attorney Anne
Marie Schubert along with
members of her Community
Prosecutorial Team will be the
featured speakers at my next
series of community meetings
for the month of May in Arden
Arcade and Carmichael.
Recently with support from
the Board of Supervisors, the
District Attorney entered into
an agreement with Motel 6 for
the company to take corrective measures in response to
the excessive number of calls
for service the motel chain
generated involving domestic abuse, prostitution, drugs,
etc. (you may recall that in
October 2014, Sacramento
County Deputy Danny Oliver
was murdered at a Motel 6 in
Arden Arcade — that motel
has since been torn down). As
we researched the problem, it
became apparent that Sheriff
Deputies were frequently being
called to respond to problems
at these motels and many
other old motels taking deputies away from patrolling our
neighborhoods. One location
had in excess of 300 calls for
services. On average Motel 6
had almost 10 calls for each
of its 550 rooms located in
the County. As a result of the
agreement, Motel 6 will be
using armed security guards,
conduct guest background
checks, and ban nighttime
visitors.
The meeting for the Arden
Arcade area will be held at
6 p.m. at the Conzelmann
Community Center located in
Howe Park, 2201 Cottage Way,
on Wednesday, May 11th. The
meeting for Carmichael will
be held Thursday, May 19th, at
the Mission Oaks Community
Center, 4701 Gibbons Drive,
also at 6 p.m.
For a complete listing of
my all community meetings,
please visit my webpage at
www.bos.saccounty.net.
Antiques, Bubbles and Brunch
The Carmichael Parks
Foundation will kick off its
first annual fundraising event
“Antiques, Bubbles & Brunch”
at the Milagro Experience on
Sunday, May 1st, from 11 a.m.
to 4 p.m.
The event is part antiques
roadshow and part culinary experience — and will
showcase to the community Carmichael’s newest and
highly anticipated event center at Milagro Centre. Proceeds
will benefit the Carmichael
Recreation and Parks District’s
youth scholarships and beautification projects. The day will
feature one-on-one antique
appraisals from accredited
appraisers, complimentary
bubbles, a brunch menu from
the Milagro Experience, and a
cash bar.
The Carmichael Parks
Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed entirely
to the mission of building
and maintaining Carmichael’s
parks and ensuring the community’s youth have quality
recreational activities. For
more information, please visit
www.carmichaelparksfoundation.org.
Office Hours Return
During May, I will be returning to Carmichael Park setting
up my “office” at the Famers’
Market from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
on Sunday, May 1st, to provide residents the opportunity
to visit with me and talk about
issues without the need of
having to make an appointment downtown at the County
Administration Center.
I started holding “Office
Hours” in 2005 and now it
is an on-going program. In
March, I kicked off my 2016
“Office Hours” series starting at Howe Park during the
annual fishing derby hosted
by the Fulton-El Camino
Recreation and Park District.
Later that month I moved my
“office” to Carmichael Park for
the annual egg hunt sponsored
by the Carmichael Recreation
and Park District.
Please stop by when you are
shopping for fresh fruits and
vegetables that morning at the
Carmichael’s Farmers’ Market.
Appointments will be handled
on a first served basis.

Third District on the Sacramento
County Board of Supervisors.

DA Reports
50 Years to Life and for First-Degree
Murder and 15 Years to Life for
Second Degree Murder
CASE: Luther Frazier
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District
Attorney Kevin Greene, Homicide Unit
The Honorable Helena Gweon sentenced Luther Frazier to 50 years to life
in prison. On March 10, 2016, a jury
convicted Frazier of first-degree murder. The jury also found true a use of a
firearm allegation.
Frazier purchased heroin from the
victim, Shaun Blechinger, over several
months. After a while, Frazier allowed
the victim to use his car in exchange
for heroin. When the victim wrecked
Frazier’s car, he would not pay for the
damage. Frazier then stole his father’s
gun and went over to the victim’s residence to collect the money. The two
of them met outside in an alley, where
they exchanged words. When the victim was walking back to his apartment,
Frazier shot him six times, killing him.
CASE: Montrell Woods
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District
Attorney Kevin Greene, Homicide Unit
The Honorable Allen Sumner sentenced Montrell Woods to 40 years to
life in prison. On February 8, 2016, a
jury convicted Woods of second-degree
murder in the shooting death of Kenny
Hernandez. Woods was also convicted
of being a felon in possession of a
firearm.
On January 22, 2014, Mr. Hernandez
was helping family members move into
an apartment on Ethan Way when he
bumped into Woods. The two got into
an argument. Woods then pulled out a
.38 handgun and shot Mr. Hernandez
in the chest. Mr. Hernandez died while
SCSO Caps 20th Season with European
Masterworks and New CD Release
being transported to the hospital; his
mother and girlfriend were with him
when he passed away.
CASE: Ernest Salmons
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District
Attorney Thomas Asker, Homicide Unit
The Honorable Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Ernest Salmons to 15 years to
life in prison. On March 8, 2016, a jury
convicted Salmons of second-degree
murder.
Salmons was cellmates with Edward
Larson at the Sacramento County
Jail. On December 14, 2014, Salmons
informed jail staff that Mr. Larson was
not moving. Mr. Larson was cold to
the touch and stiff. Medical personnel
responded immediately, but efforts to
revive Mr. Larson were futile. There
was no apparent evidence of a struggle
or blood in the cell. When the cell was
processed with a latent blood reagent,
significant blood traces were revealed,
including a large pool of blood on the
floor along the wall next to the bunk.
Blood collected and tested by the
District Attorney’s Crime Lab confirmed it was Mr. Larson’s blood.
The coroner concluded Mr. Larson
died from blunt force injuries inflicted
by an assault. Among other injuries,
Mr. Larson suffered lacerations to the
liver, and sustained nine broken ribs on
his right side and seven broken ribs on
his left side.
In an interview with detectives,
Salmons indicated he slapped Mr.
Larson twice with an open hand and
kicked him once. He stated Mr. Larson
hit his head a few times by his own
volition.

SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG)
- Conductor Donald Kendrick
and the SCSO plan to cap
their landmark 20th season on May 14th at 8 p.m. at
the Sacramento Community
Center Theater with a performance featuring three
contrasting choral orchestral
works by Haydn, Vaughan
Williams, and Dvoràk. But the
celebration doesn’t end there!
The evening will also serve as
a huge CD release party as the
SCSO plans to unveil its 9th
professionally mastered CD
— Carmina Burana II — at
this year-end performance.
Haydn’s Harmonimesse will
serve as the evening’s main
musical fare, complemented
by Vaughan Williams’ An
Oxford Elegy, and Dvoràk’s
Psalm 149 on the first half of
the concert.
“The Harmoniemesse
will bring back so many
warm memories as this was
the amazing work that we
featured during our first selffunded European tour to
Munich, Prague, Vienna,
and Budapest in 2004,” said
Conductor Donald Kendrick.
Four outstanding soloists and
narrator Phillip Rider will join
the SCSO Team on stage for
this performance.
“A post concert reception,
projected supertitle translations, and Don Kendrick’s
electric and educational
pre-concert talk at 7 p.m.
will enhance the evening’s
enjoyment for our concert
attendees,” added SCSO
Board Member Charlene
Black.
According to SCSO
President James McCormick,
“Our new CD is a live recording of our very well-received
Carmina Burana performance
on March 5th, 2016 at the
Community Center Theater.
We’re thrilled that the CD will
also showcase the American
première of English composer
Jonathan Dove’s Psalms for
Leo. The amazing 12-page
color CD insert promises to
add great value to the CD
itself.”

those beautiful flowers. After
all, we survived winter and
we’re sick of gray and ready for
sunny colors.
A good rule of your green
thumb is Plan, Prepare,
Purchase,Plant. If you try to
prepare and plant at the same
time, you’ll poop out and then
those plants that you’ve taken
into your care face possible
death. Of course it’s not premeditated, but the plants will be
just as dead.
Death by good intention
Have you ever seen a honey
bee that’s got so much pollen
on her feet and thighs that she
can barely fly? I often wonder
if some of them never make it
back to their hives they’re so
overloaded; kind of like when
you’ve eaten way too much.
But like those bees, we can
get carried away buying more
than we can plant. We fly home
with our trunks full of flats of
flowers and the optimism we’ll
plant them all TODAY. But so
often we poop out in the middle
of the plant and the remaining purchase is at the mercy of
our next planting mood which
can easily result in death of the
remaining purchase.
Four Keys all start with a P
Key 1 Plan~
Divide your yard into zones.
When you divide up a project into manageable parts you
won’t get overwhelmed. Figure
out what you’d like to have
brighten each zone and write
down how many of each plant
you want. It’ll be like a grocery
list. Don’t plan another zone
until you’ve finished planting one you’ve planned. I like
to add at least one perennial
each year (those are the plants
that come back) in each of my
zones.
Key 2 Prepare~
Prepare the soil and even dig
the holes before you head to the
nursery. This is a crucial P!
Key 3 Purchase~
Take your list and limit what
you buy to the amount of holes
you’ve already dug. Don’t be
tempted while you’re in the
beauty of all the colors and fragrances to over-buy your holes!
You don’t have to stick to the
exact kind of flowers on your
list, just the number of plants.
Key 4 Plant~
When you actually get to
plant, (which is as soon as
you get home from buying the
plants, since you’ve already
prepared where you want to
plant them) you’ll be so happy
with yourself for doing all the
hard work first. And you won’t
have the guilt that comes with
unintentionally killing innocent
life by leaving those beautiful plants out in their tiny pots
without water. (It’s just easy to
forget when you get tired and
the plants are out of sight, out
of mind.)
This year I’ve turned one of
my pet peeves into an advantage. We have a big meadow
and every spring the moles convene like they’re at a great,
annual mole convention. Their
underground social network
rivals Face Book. They seem to

NOTICE OF PETITION
TO ADMINISTER ESTATE
NOTICE OF PETITION TO ADMINISTER
ESTATE OF MARIE GRACE ZWIERZYNSKI
(descendent)
ESTATE NO. 34-2015-00183027
To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, and
contingent creditors of and persons who may
be otherwise interested in the will or estate, or
both of Marie Grace Zwierzynski (deceased):
A Petition has been filed by Robert
Tripp in the Superior Court of California,
County of Sacramento, requesting that
Robert Tripp be appointed as Executor to
administer the estate of the decendent.
The petition requests authority to administer the
estate under the Independent Administration of
Estates Act. (This authority will allow the executor
to take many actions without obtaining court
approval. Before taking certain very important
actions, however, the executor will be required to
give notice to interested persons unless they have
waived notice or have consented to the proposed
action.) The independent administration authority
will be granted unless an interested person files
an objection to the petition and shows good cause
why the court should not grant the authority.
A hearing on the petition will be held in this court
as follows: May 5, 2016 9:00 a.m. in Dept. No.
129 at Ridgeway Family Relations Courthouse,
3341 Power Inn Road, Sacramento, CA 95826.
IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition,
you should appear at the hearing and state
your objections or file written objections with
the court before the hearing. Your appearance
may be in person or by your attorney.
IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent
creditor of the deceased, you must file your
claim with the court and mail a copy to the
personal representative appointed by the court
within the later of either (1) four months from
the date of first issuance of letters to a general
personal representative, as defined in section
58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2)
60 days from the date of mailing or personal
delivery to you of a notice under section 9052
of the California Probate Code. Other California
statutes and legal authority may affect your
rights as a creditor. You may want to consult
with an attorney knowledgeable in California law.
YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court.
If you are interested in the estate, you may file

The Exciting New World of
Implant Supported Dentures
• Has the Security of a Fixed Bridge! • Easier to Maintain Good Oral Hygiene
There are millions of people in the U.S. who are edentulous (meaning without teeth) who struggle daily with dentures.
A majority suffer from discomfort as a result of loose or illfitting dentures. Many prosthetic wearers simply withdraw from
any type of social engagement as a result of having to wear their dentures.
Lower dentures almost never fit properly. They are loose fitting due to less surface area which can’t create a suction,
shrinking gum tissue and bone loss, which can cause irritation in the mouth, sores and pain. The only relief is using sticky
dental adhesive to help it, but it is very messy, hard to clean off and needs multiple applications throughout the day.
Upper dentures are better than lower dentures due to a suction in the upper palate that keeps the denture in place.
However, having the palate covered reduces the tastes of foods and the ability to tell the temperature of foods.
Partial Dentures can be a source of discomfort due to lack of supporting teeth or an illfitting partial. Partials also use clasps
to secure to existing teeth which can be noticeable and can put added pressure to the existing teeth.
Now there is a solution to these issues:
Implants with “Snap On” Dentures!
Whether you are new to dentures or have worn them for years, a snap on denture is a great solution
to uncomfortable chewing and slippery painful dentures. There are several types of snap on dentures
available, including snap on partials. We make your denture or partial fit and function in harmony with
the space available in your mouth, and give custom attention to the delicate fabrication of your snap on
denture.
If you already wear a conventional denture or partial denture, we can sometimes use your denture to
accommodate the snaps to fit on your new dental implants.
If you are interested in learning more about improving your quality of life with an implant retainedsnap on
denture or partial, please contact us for a FREE CONSULTATION today!
