Kamsarmax Jinhaiwan
The Kamsarmax is a fairly new design, with same beam restriction as
the Panamax (32,25 m), but due to its increased length this vessel class
has a better cargo intake.
The name of the class originates from the West African bauxite export
port Kamsar in Guinea. This port has a length restriction of 230 meters and
the design is matching this l.o.a. restriction. As a consequence the vessel
is improving its deadweight / draft ratio. A typical Kamsarmax has a
deadweight ranging between 80.000 and 85.000 dwt.
The Kamsarmax similar to the Panamax is considered to be a work horse
within the gearless dry bulk trade. They carry most of the typical Panamax
cargoes such as coal, grain , bauxite and alumina and the trading pattern
is also similar to the Panamax.
