"Image Enhancer" technology ushers in a new era of Kenwood speaker development. Based on a patented Kenwood design, the
simplicity of the gently curved exterior is not only attractive but also highly functional. All sharp corners are eliminated to prevent
adverse sound wave reflection and interference. Even a new grill design is adopted to ensure the full benefit of "Image Enhancer"
technology: flatter and wider dispersion of the sound image with noticeable improvement in vocals. Effort has also been made to
strengthen bass sound response and achieve higher mid-range efficiency by increasing magnet size. Despite this adoption of thicker
magnets, our engineers successfully reduced mounting depth, enabling easy installation in a greater variety of cabin environments.

The centerpiece of our 2003 lineup is
the new IE speaker series featuring
Kenwood's original Image Enhancer
technology. While the innovative and

design is actually an integral part of the successful adaptation of Image Enhancer technology for

High-energy Neodymium magnets and
an advanced repulsion magnetic circuit
reproduce high-quality sound with a clear midrange and solid
bass response. Featuring improved magnetic circuitry, the 4layer voice coil delivers powerful bass sound with reduced
loss of magnetic flux density. The result is reproduction of
wide and dynamic sound with greater power throughout the
flat frequency spectrum.
The Pearl-Mica Injection-Moulded Cone not only boasts an
attractive coloured cone surface but also features extreme
rigidity to eliminate unnecessary resonance.
HQ/DB SPEAKERS
In the development of the HQ/DB series, our goal
was more dynamic sound. In order to provide both
high power handling and rich bass, our attention
focused on the rigidity of the cone, and our answer
was the adoption of PBO, a superb material that features both light weight and excellent strength.
KFC-HQ178
Designed specifically for the delivery of extra-high power
of up to 1,000W, the dB+ woofer employs a PBO cone
diaphragm that features faster propagation speed and
excellent internal loss as well as greater stability. The rubber surround and
rigid basket further enhance stability while the spiral vented pole piece and
AFC spider greatly improve linearity and efficiency. The same design concept
is also applied to the new full-range speakers.
KFC-HQ178 and KFC-HQ138 both employ this awesome PBO cone
diaphragm. They also feature an aluminum bobbin voice coil to effectively
suppress unwanted resonance while improving heat radiation. With the new
dB+ Series of full-range speakers, you can easily bring the experience of
high-quality "true" bass into your car.

Magnet size has been increased in several models to realize better mid-range efficiency and reinforce bass

Diaphragm. Newly designed to handle both huge input and large
amplitudes, this woofer diaphragm has a unique look to deliver a

By incorporating two 4Ωvoice coils, Dual Voice Coil technology enables the same woofer to be used as a 2Ω or 8Ωimpedance unit just by changing the wiring connection. This expanded flexibility gives users the choice to use this unique woofer
in a wide variety of combinations and configurations.
WOOX SUBWOOFER
Woox Technology is the result of our quest for powerful bass reproduction with a
smaller drive unit and enclosure, and KSC-WA62RC is the subwoofer that embodies that technology. Maximum output of the built-in power amplifier is 100 W. With
the wired remote control supplied with the unit, the driver can easily adjust input
sensitivity and frequency cut-off or use the phase reverse function to ideally tune
the subwoofer from comfort of the driver's seat.

TWEETERS
New package component speakers feature a 5-way mounting tweeter as well as a protection device in the crossover network. Special mounting brackets provide the freedom to flexibly mount the tweeter five different ways: swivel flush, swivel
surface, fixed surface, 70° angle and 45° angle. With a swivel angle of 12.5 degrees, this system can deliver optimum highfrequency sound in any car cabin environment. Boasting a new "transparent" look, the crossover network unit has a built-in
protection circuit against excess input power.

TUBE WOOFER WITH REMOTE CONTROL CAPABILITY
The tube-type speaker enclosure reproduces richer bass sound, and the large concave center cap
effectively eliminates unwanted distortion. On the rear panel, parallel fins improve heat dissipation
of the built-in amp while the Kenwood triangle LED lends an attractive accent to the rear view.
The remote control unit can be detached from the speaker system and operated via a shielded
mini-DIN cable.

Many standard speakers can play high frequencies, but because of where they
may be positioned the listener may never hear them. Since high frequency
sound is very directive and speakers are not always placed in the best position,
it makes a lot of sense to have a tweeter which can be angled towards the listeners ears. Kenwood’ s HQ-series has introduced
Adjustable Direction Tweeter which enables an
adjustment between +/- 15 degrees in order to orient direct sound to the listening position.
