donation from their foundation.
The KIA website, between August 12 and

Thursday, October 25th at
11:30am to 1:00pm
Kewalo Conference Room
of the Ward Warehouse
Bring-your-own-lunch
(drinks provided)
This is an opportunity for KIA members to meet other members
and showcase their business plus learn about others. Everyone
will be allowed to make a presentation, distribute business cards
or brochure/handouts, and let KIA members know what type of
customers would be good to expand their business. Then there
will be a second opportunity to connect with anyone whose
service or product you need or give a referral of someone you
know.
RSVPs are needed as room setup is important for this event.
Email Sherry Goya, KIA Executive Director at [email protected]
or call 722-8487 to reserve a seat.
KIA Invitational Golf Tournament
A great time was had by
all golfers, and even the
volunteers enjoyed the
day. There were 144
golfers who played 18
holes from the shotgun
start of 12:30pm at the
beautiful Pearl Country
Club. The weather held
up until about the last
two holes; however,
when the rain showers
stopped, everyone was
still happy!

There could not be a golf
tournament without great sponsors,
many were KIA members and others
were friends of KIA. Every Board
member of KIA made a donation,
had a team, and/or were Tee, Silver
and Gold sponsors. The golf
committee did an excellent job over the past six months.
Chairman Paul Kimura of KIA member City Fender thanked the
committee for their dedication to the event and KCAA Muriel
Preschool, the beneficiary, who received $10,000 at the
September KIA Board meeting. Cora Gibo, Director of KCAA
Muriel Preschool said that the monies will be used for a new
curriculum that they are implementing and to improve their
outdoor area (complimenting the “NFL-like” turf that KIA
contributed from a past golf tournament). The preschool hopes
to have an ‘Arts” area for dance, band, painting, etc, as well as
an area for costumes and plays.
The lunch menu of fried rice and
chicken katsu was donated by KIA
member Asahi Grill, with a discount
on the purchase of teriyaki beef - all
delicious as usual. Ryan’s Grill
donated special kalua pork sliders in
a Chinese bun, which was fantastic!
The “treat” of the day came in
cupcakes donated by Hokulani
Bakery. It’s so wonder the golfers
didn’t fall asleep on the course!
The goodie bags helped sustain the
golfers (filled with energy bars,
chips, bananas and apples (donated
by KIA member Ala Moana
Produce and Armstrong Produce).
All the water and sodas were
donated by Pepsi Beverage
Company and juices from Hawaiian
Sun.
There were so many people and
companies to thank for making this
year’s
KIA
Invitational
Golf
Tournament such a big success.
Everyone was greatly appreciated.
