515 Organo-inorganic and heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids
515 Organo-inorganic and heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids; salts Since 2004, the value (in current prices) of exports of organo-inorganic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids and their salts (SITC group 515) increased on average by 8.8 percent each year and amounted to US$100.1 bln in 2008 (table 2). Graph 1 shows that in 2008, its exports increased by 4 percent, compared to 14.1 percent for world exports of chemicals and related products, nes (SITC section 5) and 15.3 percent for total world exports. It accounted for 6.1 percent of world exports of chemicals and related products, nes (SITC section 5) and 0.6 percent of total world exports (table 1). In 2008, Ireland, Belgium and Germany were the top exporting countries (table 2). They accounted respectively for 23.4, 12.4 and 10.6 percent of world exports. USA accounted for 23.5 percent of world imports and was the top destination. Other major destinations were Belgium and Germany (table 3). By MDG regions (graph 2), Developed Europe was the origin and destination of a majority of trade in organo-inorganic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids and their salts (SITC group 515). In 2008, its exports were valued at US$71.3 bln and imports, neared 55.4 bln resulting in a trade surplus of US$15.9 bln. Top trade deficits were recorded by Developed North America (US$-21.3 bln), Latin America and the Caribbean (US$-6.2 bln) and Developed Asia-Pacific (US$-3.7 bln).
