Apopka High School Winterguard
The Apopka HS Winterguard took first
place in Scholastic A Class this past Saturday
at the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit
Premier Competition, hosted here at AHS. They
had an amazing show and beat out guards
that were ranked in the top 10 in the world last
year! This was by far their best performance in
Apopka history! While we’re waiting for scores
to come in from around the country, so far we’ve
only found three other teams scoring higher
and we’re excited to know that we are definitely
nationally competitive this year! We also had a
ton of students, parents, alumni and staff who
came out to help make the event successful.
Additionally, the Guard Buddies team
performed in exhibition to a standing ovation.
Thanks to Ms. Householder, Dr. Sisler, and Ms.
Ghent for coming out to help with the show.

Brittany Eaves, Senior
Brittany is a member of the Varsity Girl’s
Lacrosse team and an avid member of
Student Government. Brittany maintains
a 4.04 Weighted GPA while taking five AP
courses and two Honors courses. Varsity
Lacrosse Head Coach Bill Holman had this to
say about his student athlete, “Brittany Eaves
is a true team player; she is always there
when you need her, on and off the field. She
is always unselfish on the field. If you take the time and watch
her during a game, she is always moving, and you can just tell
she is thinking what to do next. When she is in control of the
ball, she never forces it; always looking for that next pass or an
opening to the goal. Off the field, she is just as important as she
is on the field; she is involved in SGA, Senior class council, Beta
and NHS. Brittany does a lot of volunteer work through the clubs
that she is involved in. Brittany has been a joy to coach the past
4 years. I cannot think of a better choice for the student of the
week.” Brittany’s Student Government Advisor, Mr. Paul Peters,
had this to say, “Brittany is a wonderful young woman with
winning ways. She possesses a sharp intelligence, maturity, and
great work ethic. Her ability to work with anyone and genuine
likeability are unquestionable. I truly wish I could clone her!”
Brittany’s AP Physics teacher, Ms Karen Musser, added, “Brittany
is delightful—hardworking and a great personality.” Brittany’s AP
Art History instructor, Mr. Matt Houvouras, also added, “Brittany
is hard-working, bright and funny. She is our official timekeeper

different AHS events.
We will conduct fund raisers to help with the purchasing
of the dance costumes for the performances.
