Named 2015 Iowa Seedstock Producer of the Year
James Stalcup of Stalcup Farms Charolais, from Prescott Iowa has been
named as Iowa’s Seedstock Producer of the year. the coveted award,
sponsored annually by the Iowa Beef Breeds Council, is being awarded to
James Stalcup on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Expo Kick-Off Program;
which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Bull Pen of the cattle barn
at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. All friends of the Stalcup family and the
Iowa beef expo are invited to attend, after the Charolais sale that day.
the Seedstock Producer of the year is a desirable award among Iowa’s
Purebred breeders. each Purebred breed association is given the opportunity to nominate one candidate for the award. James Stalcup has been
in the Seedstock cattle business for 53 years raising Charolais cattle currently running 350 cows. Mr. Stalcup has been a member of the American
International Charolais Association for 35 years and a member of the Iowa
Cattlemens Association for 30 years.
Mr. Stalcup is currently on the Board of the Iowa Cattlemens Association. He is active in 4-H as a 4-H Leader for 8 years and on the 4-H adams
County board. In 2014 James was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame and
received the Lifetime achievement award for services in adams County in
2010. the cattle from Stalcup Farms Charolais have received many awards
including top gaining bulls at the ICa test, State Fair Champions, two aICa
Show bull of the year awards and national grand Champions. they have
also received Champion banners from the Iowa State Fair, Minnesota State
Fair, South Dakota State Fair as well as the Iowa Beef Expo. James passion
has been the Super Bull Award at the Iowa State Fair. He has won the Super bull title 8 times, holding the record with long-time friend Joe Holub.
