Faber’s roots are in the Dutch province of Friesland where in
1844, Jan Gerrits Faber established a blacksmith’s shop. In
addition to fireplaces, the business also made bicycles, skates,
hay and straw balers, beet cutting machines and safes. When
natural gas was discovered at nearby Slochteren in the sixties,
fireplaces became all the rage. For Faber, this provided sufficient
reason to concentrate its efforts on the design and production
of quality gas fires. The business gradually developed into
market leader in the field of chimney-based fires. In 1996, Faber
launched its very first fires with closed combustion technology,
a safe technique which has since been adopted by many other
manufacturers. In 2001, Faber moved from Leeuwarden to its
current location in Heerenveen. All Faber fires are sold through
carefully selected distributors and partners, whose names can

Purchase and Installation
Faber has appointed carefully selected dealers around the
country to provide high levels of service and expert advice on
flue requirements and the available options. Our dealers employ
experienced installation teams who are appropriately qualified
members of the Gas Safe Register. We recommend that you only
consider buying a Faber fire from one of our appointed dealers.
Please see page 55 for more details of how to find you nearest dealer.
Built to Order
All Faber fires are available for use with natural gas or LPG and
are built to order according to your choice of options for interior
finish and fuel bed material. The selection of options available for
each model is listed on pages 52 and 53.
Faber Balanced Flue System
Virtually all Faber indoor fires use an efficient balanced flue
system which takes all the required combustion air directly from
outdoors straight into the fire allowing the glass-fronted appliance

to be completely sealed from the room which results in safe,
consistent and highly efficient combustion and a very effective
room heater. Combustion air is drawn in and exhaust air is
expelled through a double-wall pipe which can terminate through
either a wall or a roof and without the need for fan assistance.
The flexibility of the Faber flue system allows installation against
internal or external walls and, uniquely in the market, provides
the capability of a total flue length of 30 vertical metres or several
horizontal metres and multiple bends. Your Faber dealer will
be able to assess your intended site and advise you on what is
possible. If your home has an existing chimney, this can usually
be re-used with the Faber balanced flue system.
The 4Seasons Premium is the only Faber indoor fire to use a
different system, a fan-assisted conventional flue type that uses
its own unique pipework and sophisticated electronic controls to
monitor air pressure in the room and adjust the fan speed
as necessary.
Building in Your Fire
Most Faber indoor fires will need some building in, either by the
construction of a false chimney breast from fireproof materials or
the re-use of an existing chimney breast. Although some models
can be installed in a suitable stone fireplace for a more traditional
look, many models lend themselves to a clean frameless look,
either with a simple plaster finish or with a frame or feature
wall made from stone or other heatproof material. The images
in this brochure can provide inspiration and your Faber dealer
will be able to offer further ideas. Whatever style you decide
upon the construction must allow for the escape of heat from
the enclosure by using the ventilation grilles supplied or by
creating a “shadow gap” where the chimney breast meets the
ceiling. Although all models are equipped with remote control,
most built-in models require access to the manual controls for
servicing etc. and this can be provided using the small access
door supplied which can be placed in an unobtrusive location,
often on the return wall of the chimney breast.

Has a ceramic log set and the flames concentrate
in the middle of the log set. The Log Burner® is
comparable with a small camp fire.
Faber’s latest exclusive technology, the innovative Step Burner®,
is divided into three sections which allows the full width of the
burner to be lit or just the centre section.
Log Burner®
With both width modes offering high and low flame height
settings, the Step Burner® provides ultimate controllability of heat
output and running costs. The lowest setting allows the fire to
be used virtually all year round without sacrificing the impressive
appearance and heating capacity of a large fire.

4Seasons Premium
A truly unique gas fire that can be used with the door
open or closed and this, combined with the Step
Burner function, means that the fire can be used all year round.
Fan flue system automatically maintains the correct
air pressure in the room and adjusts the fan speed
when the door is opened or closed.
Input is 11.5kW. Output is 2.8kW-8.9kW with the door
closed and 0.8kW-2.9kW with the door open.
Convection air supplied via 300mm diameter
concentric pipe which also carries the exhaust gasses.
No additional room ventilation needed as the fan
supplies room air as required.

Restaurant Hajè Terherne have chosen Faber’s Mood outdoor fire to help achieve a welcoming atmosphere.
The hotel is situated near Heerenveen, the hometown of Faber in Holland and features a waterside dining terrace
with two Faber Mood fires to provide heat and create a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. “The terrace is large
and wraps around the whole establishment but in the evening, the places near the fires are the favourites”.
The fires have been installed with a permanent natural gas connection so that they can be lit every evening
without having to refill gas cylinders.

Surrounds
A Faber surround can be the perfect finishing touch to your new fire.
The Wirdum surrounds have been specifically designed to complement
the style of the Hestia, Clear and Spectra Frameless fires and are
suitable for traditional and more modern interiors. Faber surrounds are
manufactured in artificial marble. Artificial marble is made from a mixture
of ground marble and synthetic resin which is poured into moulds.
This process delivers consistent quality and uniformity of colour and
finish, factors that can be problematic with natural stone, and is less
susceptible to the adhesion of dirt.
The Wirdum is available in two different sizes to perfectly match your
chosen fire and both are offered in two different finishes, polished and
honed. Polished is a high-gloss finish and honed is a smooth satin gloss.

ITC is a sophisticated electronic control app that works via your existing wireless network to allow a suitable device such as a smartphone or tablet
to control all functions of the fire, monitor usage and gas consumption, give service reminders and to provide the EcoBoost function.
EcoBoost is additional to the normal functions of the fire and is a five-stage system that uses the Step Burner and high-low settings to save gas,
lower the heat output and provide a dynamic flame picture. The five programmes are based on the percentage of gas consumption savings you
wish to make, compared with running the fire on the maximum setting.
Fires equipped with the ITC are also supplied with a handset that can control the basic functions of the fire and acts as the room sensor for
the thermostat.

Finding a Faber Dealer
Faber fires are sold through a nationwide network of expert appointed dealers. You can find your nearest
dealer via the Faber website by clicking on the “Dealer” tab on the homepage and then typing your postcode
or the name of your nearest town.
Faber dealers usually have a selection of Faber fires on live display in their showrooms and are able to advise
you on the technical requirements of your chosen fire and quote for the supply and installation of the product.
Many dealers also supply stone and marble fireplace products and can advise on design options, decorative
finishes and location possibilities to take advantage of Faber’s highly flexible balanced flue system.
