Please note that our contest is being held at the same time as a car/truck/bike show called “Scrapin’ the
Coast,” which has caused many hotels to increase their rates. We have been in contact with Gulf Coast
Hotel Reservations, which has a free service to assist you in finding a hotel to fit your needs and budget.
They have requested that you take advantage of this service and mention that you are coming for the
Southeast Regional Twirling Championships. Their toll-free number is (888) 388-1006.
Important notes:
There will not be a charge for admission to the contest. In place of an admission fee, there will be a surcharge of $15 per athlete (per family)
or team. Athletes competing in individual events should include the surcharge with their entry fees, and team directors should include the
surcharge with their team entries ($15 per team).
Please also note that we are holding any qualifying rounds for Regional Individual Events on Saturday during the Open Contest.
Int’l Cup Critiques: Athletes on the US International Cup team may wish to enter IC events for critique. Athletes will receive a digital
critique to help them as they prepare for the International Cup in August. IC Critiques will be held on Saturday with the open individual
events.

Contestants from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee may enter Regional events. ANYONE may
enter the Open and Rating events.
Certified funds or money orders ONLY may be made payable to USTA Southeast Region Baton Council.
No late entries or phone entries will be accepted.
Concession arrangements have been made for each day of the competition.
No flash pictures allowed during performances. Failure to comply will result in disqualification of the athlete.
Individual & Group Competitors must enter the competition at the age they will be on December 31, 2013.
Any first place wins, prior to the entry deadline, which would change an athlete's classification for that competition, must be reported to the contest
director immediately.
No credits, refunds, transfers or forwarding of entries or monies.
Southeast Region reserves the right to divide or combine age groups as necessary.
The competition is sanctioned by USTA. Official USTA music, Olympic scoring, USTA Rules, Certified Judges and Official Critique Sheet will be used.
All music for USTA events may be purchased through the USTA website at www.ustwirling.com
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: All athletes must have a current USTA Membership OR pay a fee of $8 to be a “Member For a Day” to compete at
a State or Regional USTA competition. A current USTA Membership number or the “Member For a Day” fee MUST be included or entry will be
returned. Any athlete wishing to become a USTA Member should go to www.ustwirling.com and complete the online membership form. Athletes
wishing to participate in the Southeast Region Championships as a “Member For a Day” should check the appropriate box on the entry form and
include the fee of $8 with their entry.
The Official Set System will be used. If any athlete or group fails to report on their assigned set number, as noted in the program, that group or athlete
will not be permitted to perform.
Regional Finals will be held after each event. The top three Juvenile and the top three Junior athletes from the semi-final round will advance to the
Junior final. The top three Senior and the top three Adult athletes will advance to the Senior final.
USTA ESSENTIAL EVENTS: Athlete must pass each class in order, starting from Class C. Athletes do not compete with each other. Compulsories
and Movement Technique evaluations available in all classes.
Novice athletes are those who have never won a competitive first place in a particular event. Beginner athletes have won less than 5 competitive first
place awards. Intermediate athletes have won less than 10 competitive first place awards. Advanced athletes have won 10 or more competitive first
place awards. Competitive first places are those in which the athlete was in competition against at least one other athlete. Athletes must count first
places won at a higher level of competition in total number of wins.
An Open beginner or intermediate team has won less than 10 competitive first place awards. An Open advanced or Regional team has won 10 or more
competitive first place awards.
All members of a Tiny Tot Dance Twirl Team must be 7 years of age or younger.
Parade Corps may not pass in review. For more information on auxiliary & corps events, please refer to the USTA Rule Book.
All group members must hold a current USTA membership, be an organization or group USTA member or be a “member for a day.” Group members'
ages are averaged (the decimal is dropped). Groups may enter the division in which their average age falls or the age division in which their oldest
member falls.
