Local provenance is important to Dumfries and
Galloway Council. That is why we have created our
‘Naturally D&G’ brand. This demonstrates that we are
committed to our local food and drink industry. When
we are unable to source locally we will provide some
of the best food Scotland and the UK has to offer.
You can choose 1 from each of the
following groups:
• soup or pudding
• main course or sandwich lunch
option
• an item from the salad option
• and a drink
Please ask your school for a pre
order form
Primary schools have introduced
an advanced pre order system for
lunch.
All menus are nutritionally
analysed, offering a fantastic
choice and flexibility.

Free School Meals
Lunchtime is an important time
for your child to socialise with
friends and classmates and enjoy
their lunch.
Dumfries and Galloway Council is
offering free school meals for all
pupils in Primary 1 to 3, saving up
to £330 for each child who would
normally pay for their meals.
We have 361 catering staff across 16 secondary schools and
96 primary schools. All of our catering staff are trained in
food hygiene and Dumfries and Galloway schools have a
100% pass in Food Hygiene Information Scheme.
Free school meals will still be available
to older children whose family is in receipt of qualifying benefits.
Free School Meals Entitlement
Each year we produce approximately 2 million school meals.
School meals are constantly
changing and children and young
people can benefit from the
experience of eating with others,
develop a taste for different foods
and gain the confidence to make the
right food choices. With all primary
1 to 3 pupils receiving free school
meals and school meals uptake
being at a 12 year high there has
never been a better time to join the
fun and have school meals “try them
you’ll love them”.

not be possible to accommodate
all desired requirements.
We also offer meals for specific
dietary requirements, such as
vegetarian, food allergies or
intolerances, medically prescribed
