The opening weekend of the 2012 Hwy 62 Art Tours was a
resounding success for Reach Out Morongo Basin who hosted at
Simi Dabah’s Sculpture Garden in Joshua Tree. Simi very
graciously invited Reach Out Morongo Basin to host the opening
weekend of the Hwy 62 Art Tours as a fundraising event. With
one hundred percent of the proceeds going to Reach Out we raised over
$15,500 to help fund our services for seniors and the disabled.
The beautiful fall weather had many tour goers enjoying the peaceful desert landscape accented by Simi
Dabah’s magnificent works of art displayed over his 8 acre sculpture garden. With sculptures
ranging in size from 10 inches tall to towering 15-20 feet tall there were many pieces to
catch the eye and draw in the imagination. This is the second year Simi Dabah has opened
his sculpture garden for the Hwy 62 Art Tours with all proceeds from these events going to
a local non-profit. Help from the garden’s caretaker, local resident Bob Whitt, had things
running smoothly all weekend.
The generosity shown by Simi Dabah to non-profits here in the Morongo Basin is exceptional and really
helps us to continue in our ministry of service to others. We at Reach Out Morongo Basin wish to extend a
sincere and heartfelt “Thank You” to Simi for his support of our organization and
the neighbors we serve. Your kind and giving heart will allow us to provide more
than a listening ear, a kind word or a helping hand to seniors
and the disabled in need-we will be able to offer “Hope”.
On December 8, 2012 Reach Out held its annual Holiday Brunch at the
Twentynine Palms Senior Center! With volunteers, donors, neighbors, staff and
Reach Out board members in attendance we all came together to give thanks for
the blessings of 2012 and share in the hopes for the coming year. With lots of
food, fun and fellowship a great time was had by everyone. Lots of stories were
told, thanks were given and prayers said for guidance into the new year.
We thank all who were in attendance for sharing with us the joy of the holiday
season and for the support you give Reach Out Morongo Basin throughout the
year!

The day was festive and crisp for the inaugural
Hi Desert Holiday Art Auction sponsored by
ArtFx & Furnishings and Yucca Valley Digital Media
Services in Old Town Yucca Valley on Saturday
December 15, 2012 which raised $2500 for Reach Out.
Carlos Reyes, owner of ArtFx and Yucca Valley
Digital Media Services, approached us and said
I want to help Reach Out’ and planned and coordinated this entire
gala. His commitment not only to the arts and artists but to the
community is amazing. Carlos along with Rick Lundine, Jamie M.
Hoffman, and Buster Baker who emceed the auction, as well as others worked for
weeks soliciting, collecting and cataloging the artwork donated as well as preparing
the venue for the event and working the auction. They put their hearts into everything
they did and it showed. We applaud and thank them for all their hard work to make
this auction a success.
With over 50 artists and artisans from across the Morongo Basin, the lower desert and beyond featured
there were many finely crafted and unique pieces from oil paintings, acrylics, mixed media, ceramics, metal
work, limited edition prints, jewelry and so much more. “The artists donated not only a piece of their art but
a piece of themselves to support our ministry” said Robin Schlosser Reach Out Executive Director. “The
outpouring of love was incredible and so we so greatly appreciated their generosity.”
Fantastic artwork, Christmas carolers, plug in musicians, flame blowers and even a pet goat kept the event
lively and merry with many smiling faces and open hearts. The evening was truly magical and we so feel the
love that flows through our community. With such a successful event we are looking forward to next year
and have already had artists commit to donating for the 2nd Annual Hi Desert Holiday Art Auction. We at
Reach Out Morongo Basin want to thank with all our hearts Carlos Reyes, Rick Lundine and ArtFx &
Furnishings for their commitment, sponsorship and support – you are truly amazing and a blessing to so
many!”
