54th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE

All parade participants should be on their float or in their car by
The parade starts promptly at 5:00 p.m.
Judging:
4:30 p.m.
Due to time limitations, there will be NO judging of bands or performing
groups by the judges’ panel in front of the Chamber. The only categories
judged will be Automobiles, Commercial and Non-Commercial Floats.
Judges will be set up at the reviewing stand at the Hammond Chamber of
Commerce Office (by the train depot). However, this year the crowd will
have the opportunity to judge both the high school bands and all
participants via Facebook. The winning high school band will get an
additional $100 and the winning participant will be awarded the Golden H
Christmas Spirit Award.
You may come by or call the Chamber, 985-345-4457, following the parade to
find out the winners of the Float and Auto Categories.
Disbanding: Tornado Drive (by the Southeastern University Center)
1.
There will be only ONE SANTA CLAUS in the parade and he will ride
in Santa's Special Sleigh at the END of the parade, should an
organization try to have a Santa on their float or automobile your
group will be immediately removed from the official parade lineup.
2.
NOTE NEW THIS YEAR: NO ONE under the age of 8 years old may WALK in the
Parade, per the City of Hammond’s Police Department.
3.
If your entry cannot keep up with the Parade, you will be removed by the City of
Hammond’s Police Department. Drivers must maintain a 2-car length distance
between your vehicle and the next entry. ~ Per Hammond Police Chief Roddy
Duvall.
4.
No undecorated floats or automobiles will be allowed in the parade. This does not
apply to automobiles pulling floats or to antique automobiles. BUT please try to
decorate all vehicles. This parade is about showing our community’s Christmas spirit.
5.
Proof of insurance is required on all vehicles (floats and automobiles) participating
in the parade and must be submitted no later than Wednesday, November 21,
2012.
6.
No alcoholic beverages are allowed during the parade event.
7.
DISBANDING FOR ALL: All floats, vehicles, (all moving vehicles) will disband in the
parking lot TBA. There will be uniformed police officers to assist and direct you at the
end of the parade route. Please follow their instructions. Groups should move quickly
out of the disbanding area as not to hold up the rest of the parade. We recommend that
buses park near the disbanding area after dropping off parade participants.
8.
HEIGHT OF FLOATS CANNOT BE TALLER THAN 12 FEET.

DO NOT STOP AT ANY TIME DURING THE PARADE TO PERFORM. Due to security
reasons, the Hammond City police will remove your group from the parade, any
parade participant that stops to perform.
There will be a judges’ platform at the Chamber of Commerce. DO NOT stop to perform
at the judges' platform or anywhere else along the parade route.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Florida Parishes Television-Channel 17 will film the parade again this
year. The Chamber is accepting any information about parade
participants to be announced by media as participants pass the judges'
platform. Please E-MAIL this information to
[email protected] if at all possible or you may fax it to
345-4749 or drop the information off to the Hammond Chamber of
Commerce by Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
This information is very helpful to introduce your entry as you are
filmed. Don’t miss the opportunity for your business/organization to be
talked about on TV. Information should be no longer than 1-2 paragraphs
or 50 words.
THROWS: PLEASE do not throw any commercial material. (Printed cups,
Frisbees, etc. are ok but printed flyers or coupons are not acceptable). If

 Automobile (commercial and
non-commercial combined)
Plaques will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category.
Floats and automobiles will be judged as they pass the
Hammond Chamber judging stands.
Winners may pick up their award (ONCE THE PARADE IS OVER) at
the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, 400 NW Railroad Ave.
