1960s. Sample questions: "Name of father (if known)," "Give approximate estimate of income: from theft

intellectual humor that can still be found today circulating on anti-Obama websites. After 19 questions
and a sworn statement, the applicant is invited to "Make yo mark heah." A few anti-Semitic digs mixed in,

marriage (Chuck White), to a biography of Rafer Johnson. Treasure was distributed in Catholic
parochial schools from 1947-1972. This issue was endorsed by FBI head J. Edgar Hoover. Father Louis
Gale of St. Agnes Church in St. Paul, MN was one of the popularizers of Roman Catholic liturgy and
thought. He was connected with publishing comic books such as this one. Aside from anti-communism,
the series also promoted racial equality and religious freedom.

Author of this treatise on black inferiority remained anonymous until after the Civil War as he feared
being prosecuted for treason. Not a bad assumption - he called Lincoln's executive order freeing slaves in
the rebellious states the "Miscegenation Proclamation." His main argument was that there is not one
human race but six, with the white race as the most superior. The pamphlet to which this piece responds,
"Miscegenation," advocated the elimination of racial barriers by intermarriage.
