ViFlow has signed an agreement with the company Vestas Industrial Cooling which gives ViFlow the exclusive right to sell Vestas Industrial Cooling products in Finland. The agreement broadens ViFlow's product range with cooling towers and dry coolers (also called radiator coolers) and provides a broad capability on technical deliveries. These devices are suitable for a broad operating range from small units in the HVAC sector up to large-scale industrial units. The largest module type area has been 144 m2. (width x length) Release the powers of nature Cooling with cooling towers and dry coolers is based on nature´s own resources water and air. That is because nature itself creates the cooling effect. In a cooling tower, water flows against an airflow down a liner with a large surface area. By this direct contact between water and air, a small amount of water evaporates, thereby cooling the remainder of the water circulated. The cooling water may typically be cooled below air temperature. The cooling tower has very low energy consumption compared to other cooling methods. Today ́s increasing water and sewage costs make recycling of cooling water more and more cost-effective. Cooling towers from Vestas aircoil also offer an efficient and lowcost solution for heat re-circulation systems, when removing surplus heat during the summer months. Lots of Uses • • • • • • • • closed cooling water circulation cooling of condensers hydraulic oil autoclaves evaporators extruders fermenters engine testing beds Longer product life through quality Vestas aircoil cooling towers are designed to provide a long lifespan with little maintenance. The top, side plates and lower tank are constructed from fibreglass reinforced polyester. All steel parts are galvanised or stainless steel. The intake is manufactured from polypropylene. In the cooling tower models OCT06 and OCT09, a gear train is used as transmission. In other models, the motor and fan are directly coupled. The cooling liner and the drip tray are made of polypropylene. This design allows for a drip loss as low as 0.05% of circulated water. In the standard version, the cooling liner works with temperature as high as 75°C. We can supply special liners able to withstand operating temperatures of up to 95°C. Low water consumption Only a small amount of the circulating water needs to be replaced. This is due to evaporation during the cooling process. The replacement is done to prevent water pollution. However, since noise regulations depend on various factors such as area, distance to source of noise and time of day, we are able to lower the cooling tower noise emission to the required level. Each cell has a service door to allow maintenance and inspection. Removing a grill gives direct and free access to inspection of level control, the stainless filter at the outlet as well as the overflow. Access to allow cleaning of the lower section is just as easy. No need to interrupt operation On the inside, the cooling tower is divided into cells with separate fans and water connections. This allows for easy adjustment, as each fan can work independently. The amount of water to be cooled may be varied by switching off the water supply to individual cells. This design ensures greater operating reliability. At the same time, service inspections may take place without the entire installation being shut down. Instead, the cells are switched off one by one. Ready to use in an instant The modular construction gives the advantage of a short set-up time, even for large cooling towers. Quite simply, the blocks are placed on top of each other and bolted together. The cooling towers can be packed and delivered in a container. Examples of special designs Our customers often require special equipment and specific designs adapted to the individual cooling task. • Large door for servicing of cooling and fan sections • Parts made of acid-proof steel (1.4404) to withstand contact with liquids • Single-sided intake for connection to air ducts • Intake with filter for installation in areas with dust, leaves, etc. • Specific colours matched to surroundings • Soundproofing according to requirements • Electronic level monitoring and/or flow control • Cooling towers with built-on steel reservoir (also 1.4404), fitted with pumps if required. We can offer the right cooling tower size depending on the cooling capacity, sound requirements and other specifications. Cooling towers can also be delivered with water basin. OCT01-OCT02 - small size OCT04-OCT09 - medium size OCT26- OCT144 - large size OCT01 (1050X1050) the smallest cooling tower in the series. It is a low cost tower, with the air-inlet as a part of the cooling section. To gain access to replacement of spareparts inside the tower, it is equipped with servicedoor or with an inspection hatch. OCT04 (1950x1950) is a quadratic cooling tower It is very flexible when combined in combination with other cells (placement of air-intake section). To gain access to replacement of spare parts inside the towers the cooling tower is equipped with a service door . OCT02HBL (1350x1350) a medium cooling tower in the small series. The low model is where the air-inlet is built-in the cooling-section. This make the tower less expensive but still keeps the high preformance. All cooling towers can be built together in rows, to increase the cooling capasity. OCT06 (2550x2550) is a quadratic cooling tower. It is very flexible when combined in combination with other cells (placement of air-intake section). To prevent the system to be polluted with dust or leafs, the cooling towers can easily be constructed with inlets and filters. OCT02HBH (1350x1350) a large cooling tower in the small series. The high model is made with a seperate inlet section. It´s produced with up to four layers of fills. This makes the tower a little higher but with a higher capasity. OCT05 (2550x1950) OCT09 (3750x2559) is a rectangular cooling tower. In all towers the in-and outlet can be placed so it matches the specific situation at site. It is very flexible when combined in combination with other cells (placement of air-intake section). OCT26 (5300x5300) OCT52 (7300x7300) OCT144 (12000x12000 In all towers the in- and outlet can be placed flexible to match most situations at site. It is very flexible when combined in combination with other cells. (placement of air-intake section). This cooling tower is assembled at site whereas all smaller towers can be shipped as a complete unit or divided in sections easy to be assembled. In a cooling tower the water is in direct contact with the air. Cooling of the water happens by evaporation. It is the wet bulb temperature which is the lower limit and in practice the water can be cooled down under the ambient air temperature. In a dry cooler there is a finned tube wall between water and air and cooling of the water is made by heating up the air. In this case the air temperature is the lower cooling limit. Advantages by the air cooled system Effective high-quality radiatior coolers no consumption of water no consumption of chemicals a minimum of service easy to prevent frost by using antifreezer liquids • no evaporation clouds at low air temperature The dry coolers of Vestas aircoil are based on many years of experience and a well tested calculation programme. The production is controlled according to ISO 9002. • • • • When to use dry-coolers Dry coolers are usable in all the plants where water is used in a process to remove the excess heat and where the temperature range between the water and the air is adequate. The temperature range should be at least 5 °C. It is recommandable that the range is 8 - 10 °C above the design ambient air temperature. Often it can be an economical advantage to use dry coolers for cooling/chilling during the cold period of the year and another type of cooling system during the warm period/ summer. Dry coolers (radiator coolers) are used in power plants, diesel- or gas generator plants, waste treatment plants, biogas plants, but also in other segments as for instance plastic production, hydraulic processes, glassworks, gardenings, the machine industry, and the wood industry. The decisive factor when talking about low operation costs is a low energy comsumption. We have focused a lot on the fan arrangement: • The inlet profile of the fan casing is shaped as a bell in order to reduce noise and reduce turbulence at the fan inlet to a minimum. • The fan casing is fabricated in galvanized steel or aluminium. • The fan blades are fabricated in aluminium or PAG - polyamide reinforced with glass fibres. • Low energy motors are applied. • Temperature controlling systems, which minimizes the working hours, are supplied as accessories Materials for optimal dry cooling Tubes and fins as well as frame and headers can be supplied in many materials.
