It was about the time DACC was formed (1976) that Pat Chappell authored
what has become the bible of the ’55-’57 Chevy titled the ‘HOT ONE’. Now
this highly collectible book is being recognized by the ISCA with a special
display of the ‘HOT ONE’ at this year’s Autorama and the display will
consist of all DACC members! Look for 8 of our club’s best ’55-’57 Chevys
at this weekend’s Autorama that will include – Michael Brown’s ’55 original
Bel Air, Don Andre’s custom ’57 Bel Air, John Roger’s wild ’56 Nomad,
Terry Sealock’s original ’57 Convertible, Mike Reeve’s custom ’55 Bel Air,
Jim Leinart’s ’55 Sedan Drag Racer, Larry Freeman’s original ’56
Convertible and Joe Sander’s custom ’57 Bel Air! This truly will be a HOT
ONE and be sure and see it along with hundreds of other rods, customs
and collectible cars at Market Hall this weekend!

DACC MEMBER’S PHOTOS
FROM THE PAST
Another photo from ‘back in the day’
Now your part is to guess
WHO IS THAT PERSON?
Take a good look, take your best guess, then check
on the DACC website’s Chat Board link under the
‘MISC’ section – and there you will find the answer of
‘WHO IS THAT PERSON’?
HINT – this is the wife of a previous member featured
here recently!
Make plans to caravan with other
members of the DACC when we head
west on Memorial Day Weekend this
year for the Lone Star XXXI Classic
Chevy Convention. Held this year in
San Angelo, Texas for the first time
since 1998, the two members of the
Concho Classic Chevy Club plan for a
fun weekend of ’55-’57 Chevys (YES
– two members!). Now there won’t
be a jammed packed schedule for
the weekend but Mike King and
Ronnie Taylor promise a good time
and hey what can be more fun than
driving the old Chevy across the
Texas landscape with other Chevy
nuts to meet up with a bunch more
Chevy nuts? Sounds like another
Lone Star! Get your hotel
reservations now because the word
is there is a bit of a room shortage in
that part of the world because of the
booming old field industry in the
area. Get ALL your Lone Star
information at

DACC FEATURE CAR
Don and Harriet Sebert’s
1956 Corvette
Dallas, Texas
Well, after the original Vette purchase, reality quickly
set in that many items needed attention (I think we can
all relate!). My first task was to pull the original weak
engine and 3-speed tranny and replace them with a
bored-out 283, and 4-speed syncro tranny. Then fix
other necessary items, repaint the exterior and then it
was ready for exhilaration.
My big dilemma was the choice between a 1958 Aston Martin
DB4 and a 1956 Corvette, both approximately the same price.
A wise person knows the obvious choice.
The year was 1971 and the search began for a road race/street
car with the only criteria, it had to go fast! After a lot of thought
about the two options, the choice for me was clear – the
Corvette. What could be more fun than having the top down
with plenty of power?
Forty-plus years ago, no one thought of either of these cars as
being future valuable classics. I have always had an eye for
value, but not necessarily monetary value.

Don Sebert’s ’56 Vette Feature Car Continued from Page 3
Fast forward to 1990 and after many years of racing, street
driving and just having fun with the Vette, the decision was
made to do a body off restoration to original specs. In doing
so, I discovered good news and bad news. First the good
news... the car was originally black, not red. The bad news... it
was originally a powerglide. After thinking long and hard about
this dilemma, it was decided since everything else was original
including the engine, 2x4 carbs, power top and wonder bar
radio; it should be exactly as it came from the factory, including
the powerglide.
I was fortunate to find the original owner in town, who brought
me photos when the car was new. It was a beautiful black with
silver coves. He repainted it red with white coves after owning
it a few years and replaced the powerglide with a 3-speed. As
he said, “That’s what everyone did in those days, if they
wanted a cool Vette”. He owned the car until 1969 and sold it
to a neglectful owner for two years before I rescued it.
Since 1971, I have owned a multitude of Corvettes of almost
every era including a 1969 L88. What’s interesting is the ‘56
was my first, and now my only Vette... and perhaps my last.
Now it gets a few outings to local events and some short
distant driving. It has been a real delight all these years to be
its caretaker.
Who knows, maybe this tale will be ongoing.

DACC News and Notes * MEMBERSHIP DUES! Take a look at the
label on your newsletter, the far right
top line is the month and year your
membership expires, if it is coming up
soon, please drop a check in the mail for
$25 to DACC, PO Box 814642, Dallas, TX
75381, and better yet make it for
multiple years so you don’t have to be
concerned with it for a while! With
nearly 170 families in the club it can be a
task to keep up with all the renewals
and if they are done a little early it sure
helps out!
* FEATURE CARS! It is becoming harder
and harder to maintain a monthly
feature in our newsletter and website. If
you have not had your Tri Five Chevy
featured, please take a little time and
put your story in writing about your car,
your love of the Tri Fives, etc. and
someone from the club will get photos
of your car and YOU will be featured!
Not only that it will give us ALL
something interesting to read about in
the newsletter and look at on the
website. Don’t you think this makes for
better reading than listing people’s
birthdays and wedding anniversaries
like a lot of clubs do?
* AND ALONG THOSE SAME
THOUGHTS.. if you have old photos of
you or a family member with a car in it
(bonus points if it’s a Tri Five Chevy),
send that in along with a brief
description and it will be in our ‘Photos
from the Past’ section. Again, better
than birthday listings – right?
See more of Don’s fantastic ’56 Vette on the
club’s website at
www.DallasClassicChevy.com
* AND … Got a cool ride that is not Tri
Five Chevy? We want to know about it!
Send a story and a couple of photos to
DACC and I bet you will see it soon in
the ‘Classic Heartbeat’ in our ‘OTHER
RIDES section of the newsletter!

JANUARY’S DACC
‘CRUISE IN’
AT MR. FROSTY’S
BIG SUCCESS!
It’s great to live in Texas when you can enjoy
a January winter day in a t-shirt and drive
the Classic Chevy without worrying about
snow and ice! It was just that kind of day
when the DACC hit the Mr Frosty Drive In in
Denton last month. Although the weather
did force a postponement of one week, it
was worth the wait as warm temperatures
and sunny skies were just what the Denton
Chamber of Commerce ordered! The DACC
packed the place as Patrick at Mr. Frosty’s
reserved almost the entire parking lot for
our event. This winter event has become
one of our best attended events of the year
and the reason may be the great burgers,
maybe the onion rings, or maybe it’s the
homemade Root Beer. Whatever it is, it
makes for a great afternoon of talking
Chevys and thanks to everyone for coming
out and making this nothing short of COOL!
Be sure to check out the photos not only
here but also on the club website and
THANKS to Mr. Frosty for having us again
this year!

RELIABLE CHEVROLET EXTENDS DACC SPONSORSHIP!
DACC is proud to announce the continued relationship with Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson that
will continue through 2013! What began in February of 2005, this very successful partnership is
now on its 8th year and the DACC Board of Directors could not be more proud! Dave Anderson

for new and used cars along with service. DACC has given Reliable access to the area’s leading
vintage Chevrolet club and that heritage is something Reliable celebrates each spring with the
Spring Classic Chevy Show! We thank them sincerely for their support and friendship during these
years and remember if you need a new or used car, contact Jeff Power at Reliable for your SPECIAL
