[email protected] PRESS RELEASE September 30 2015 GABRIELA MISTRAL: DAUGHTER OF THE NEW WORLD -‐-‐AN EXHIBIT NEW YORK, September 22, 2015-‐-‐-‐ In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Gabriela Mistral’s Nobel Prize in Literature, the Embassy of Chile in Washington DC, the National Library of Chile, the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile and the Gabriela Mistral Foundation present the traveling exhibit “GABRIELA MISTRAL: DAUGHTER OF THE NEW WORLD.” The exhibit will be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 at 6pm at Sala de Arte of the Embassy of Chile in Washington DC. The exhibit will be on view in Washington DC until November 3, 2015. The exhibit, curated by poet and writer Gustavo Barrera, consists of 13 panels including biographical and archival information. Gabriela Mistral-‐-‐a teacher, a poet, diplomat and humanitarian, was the first Latin American writer -‐-‐man or woman-‐-‐and to date the only Latin American woman to have received this important award on December 10, 1945. -‐-‐END OF PRESS RELEASE-‐-‐
