In 2011, the exhibition was held between March 22nd and March 26th, in Las Vegas, USA, counting with over 2 thousand exhibitors, and an estimated audience of over 140 thousand visitors. Once again, Terex has actively participated in Conexpo, where it presented equipment from all the segments it operates in. Located at the external area of Gold Lot, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the company's booth was one of busiest ones. One of the notabilities of the exhibition was on account of Terex Cranes, which showed seven products: the Crossover 6000 Boom-truck, the T100 Truck Crane , the RT100 Off-road Crane - with a special update, the 16BT 28106 Boom Truck, the AC350/6 All Terrain Truck, the HC165 Tracked Hydraulic Crane and the SK 415-20 Tower Crane. Customers could also meet a few "stars" by Powerscreen, one of the key worldwide suppliers of mobile equipment for crushing, screening and washing. The company featured its successful products, such as the Powerscreen® XH500, Powerscreen® XH320SR, Powerscreen® XA400S and Powerscreen® Warrior 2400. As to the construction equipment segment, the notability was on account of the TSR80 and TSV70 Wheeled mini-loaders, with radial & vertical lift, ranging from 50 hp to 80 hp. They have come to complete the Terex compact family, which is being launched in Brazil. The TL310 loader, with a 3.1 m³ to 4.2 m³ bucket, was also featured at the Conexpo. C #1 This larger sized machine proves that Terex has the technological answer for all market demands. The aerial platforms segment launched several equipment, such as the AL4L and AL5L lighting towers, battery and LED lights driven, the GS2669RT, GS3369RT and GS4069RT scissors-type aerial platforms, the full kit for scissors to work on maintenance of airplanes, and the S-3200 and S-3800 telescopic booms, with 32 m and 38 meters, respectively (made 40 OU TH TD BOO OORS O SU AT C O N E XP SS E C , GOLD LOT in China), specially for shipyard applications. Terex closed its participation in 2011 Conexpo with great success. Sales volume amounted to US$175 million and over 11,400 visitors came to the company's booth. There was a strong presence of customers from South America, who went to Las Vegas to value the event and who expressed a great interest on the equipment exhibited. This caused a great repercussion for the Terex brand. ■ 03 CONSTRUCTION A WELCOME AID In a solidarity partnership, Terex and Tauron worked together in Franco da Rocha City’s recovery works. The city suffered from flood with large proportions A t the beginning of the year, strong rains fell on various regions across the country, thus causing damages to some cities. One of the most damaged cities was Franco da Rocha, located at the metropolitan area of São Paulo area. The city remained flooded for three days, thus causing serious problems for most of its inhabitants. With the increase to Paiva Castro Dam's outflow and the consequent opening of the floodgates, the situation worsened even more, leaving various neighborhoods submersed. In face of such a heartbreaking scenario, however, the solution always comes from solidarity means. In order to help Franco da Rocha City Hall with the recovery works, Terex Latin America made a partnership with Tauron, a Terex equipment dealer for the construction segment. Together, they made it possible to send three equipment from Terex compact family to perform the cleaning works on Ribeirão Eusébio channel, which crosses the city. The city got two tracked miniloaders, PT-50 model, each with operational capacity of 862 kg load, besides a TX 760B backhoe, for 8 tons, 4WD. Terex compact 04 machines worked in a compelling manner, driven by three operators from Tauron. The location is of difficult access and the terrain has been quite impaired by the heavy rains, which ended up worsening the work conditions. However, within the staves of the channeled part, where large sized machines would not be able to work, Terex compact can do a great job. "Nowadays, the channel does not provide the necessary outflow and a bit stronger rain might flood part of the city again. With Terex machines we have the ideal solution to enter difficult access areas and perform the cleaning that will benefit the whole town", says Oscar de Oliveira, engineer, Franco da Rocha City Works Director. Cooperating with Franco da Rocha City was a grateful experience, both for Terex and Tauron, which is in perfect tune with Terex Way principles - the Terex way to work. Márcio Cecchettini, the mayor, recognized the help provided and sent a thank you letter on behalf of the city. On the other hand, the experience of working in such important work for the recovery of that city has served to prove Terex compact line's productive capacity and versatility. ■ TEREX COMPACT EQUIPMENT: SOLIDAIRE WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TAURON DEALER TERE X TR AINING BUSINE SS CREATIVITY AT THE B etween February 28th and March 4th, it was held the Internal Week for Labor Accidents prevention - SIPAT, at Terex Latin America headquarters. It provides products, services and quality technical support for construction companies, resellers, concrete makers, fiber-cement and cement articles industries. To cope with the increasing demand for its products, Itambé is enlarging its production unit in Balsa Nova, within the metropolitan region of Curitiba, PR. In order to speed up the works at the work site, the company relies on Terex SK415-20 crane, with maximum capacity of 20 tons. The current crane height is for 65 meters. However, as the construction work evolves, the crane will be "telescoped" so as to increase its size, up to a final height of 120 meters. The crane is mostly being used to move cargoes such as iron fittings for the internal framing of concrete columns and beams, wood plates for columns and scaffolds molds, etc. 06 The crane also moves the concrete buckets used for the filling of columns and beams. The company that rents and operates the crane set up at Itambé plant is Locar Guindastes e Transportes Intermodais. With headquarters in Guarulhos, São Paulo, it has been in the segment of special transportation since 1988, being the largest company in Latin America for cargo lifting by cranes. Large petrochemicals, mining, hydroelectric, metallurgy and assembler companies are among its clients. The crane operator, Sidney, lays great emphasis on the equipment quality. "Besides being really good to operate it, this crane provides you with safety upon operation and is real quick for the work execution." Actually, rapidity is one of the strengths of the equipment, as explains Benhur Lemos, Civil Engineering Consultant of the work. "This crane increased a lot our work efficiency since, without it, it would take us 90 days to build one of the baseline of the work. With the crane we have accomplished it in only 20 days", concludes Benhur. ■ PL ATFORMS ADVANTAGES FOR CIVIL CONSTRUCTION Relying on Genie's aerial work platforms, construction companies in Manaus gain productivity on painting services and are able to comply with the work delivery schedule. T he civil construction segments has already realized that it may profit, and a lot, from Genie aerial platforms’ aid. To that extent, ENTEC - Longhi & CIA, in Manaus, AM, is having an excellent experience. The company specializes in rendering services for the civil construction and industrial segments. The search for aerial platforms to perform services at work sites has increased, specially due to the agility, safety and ease of use that this sort of equipment may provide. Reginaldo Francisco Junior, Trade Manager to ENTEC, explains that the company has been gaining key clients in this area, mentioning, as an example, the construction work of 4,000 popular apartments that is being carried out in Manaus. "We have already made available the rental of two GS-3268 Genie's platforms and also of a Genie's telescopic handler. The platforms are deployed for the painting of the buildings’ external walls", informs. ENTEC clients’ productivity gain can be easily measured. Now, with the use of a Genie's platform, the painting team takes only 24 minutes to paint a wall, performing the whole service with full safety. In case a scaffold was being used instead, it should be included the time spent with assembly and disassembly of the tool, which would make impracticable to deliver the work within the agreed term. The final bottleneck would lie exactly on the painting services. ENTEC, which has been in the market since the 70's, is continuously updating its fleet of equipment and is concerned to always look for what is most modern in the market. A pioneer in Manaus region, the company rents from manual tools to cranes and platforms, among other equipment. The goal is to ensure the maximum safety, performance and economy for its clients. ■ REGINALDO FRANCISCO JUNIOR, WITH ENTEC: AGILITY HAS BEEN ATTRACTING CLIENTS. The traditional Dealer Meeting's team was navigation. Making a comparison between the sea the business world, where accuracy and planning are essential to face day-to-day issues, Terex welcome 34 dealers from Brazil, South America and Africa. The meeting counted with an intense program focused on the diffusion of novelties, such as the spare parts unit and new work tools, and for the introduction of the machines that are being launched for Terex portfolio. Besides that, the Dealer Meeting also had room for discussions on the roadbuilding market trends and for the recognition of Terex representatives who stood out along 2009. The great hit of the meeting was the lecture by David Schurmann, CEO for Schurmann Family, known for leaving an easy life in the mainland to venture on a turn around the world on board of a sailboat. David talked about the most important lesson learned from the adventure: the relevance of a well planned project, performed with motivation, the synergy and the team-work needed for the success of any enterprise. "This meeting among dealers has been set to perfectly match format and content. Navigation was the conducting wire leading to the presentation of key information for our representatives. This was a different manner we found to transmit our message", said the Sales, Marketing and Post-sales Director for Terex Roadbuilding LA, Gilvan Pereira. This opinion is shared among those who participated in the Event, such as José Merinsky, from Venezuela at Rimcov: "This has been a great experience. Very interesting. Ideal to get and update knowledge and exchange experiences with other dealers." "Excellent organization, interesting content, positive projection and knowledgeable speakers"", as summed up Ernesto Gehre, from Taguato, in Paraguay. ■ DEALERS AND TEREX ROADBUILDING LATIN AMERICA POSE FOR A PICTURE WITH DAVID SCHURMMANN, SPEAKER AT THE EVENT 08
