Introduction
Dear JBBP Friends and Families,
Thank you so much for supporting our JBBP Tomodachi Auction 2008. We encourage you
to spend some time in advance of the auction reviewing the auction catalog and noting
which items you may be interested in bidding on. While reviewing the catalog, please note
the following:
1. This catalog contains auction items with retail values $25 and over, entered before
the catalog deadline. See the online version at http://www.clarendonjbbp.org.
2. We have many great items in our boutique section for under $25 including toys,
books, DVDs, and jewelry, to name a few. Unfortunately our space is limited in the
print catalog so look for them on auction night! Items with an item number of #50
can be found in the boutique on Auction night.
3. Some items will be packaged with other items. These packages are not included in
the print catalog, but do lookout for them at the auction.
4. The values documented in the catalog are the retail values provided to us by the
donors. Starting bids start much lower – you might get a great bargain!
5. We have included a Wish List page where you can record the items you are
interested in.
If anyone sees any glaring mistakes, please let us know. Send corrections to
[email protected].
A few other items to remember:
1. We will have the auction desk open next week for tickets, raffle tickets, and item
drop off. The auction desk will be open from 9 – 9:30 AM or you can drop off
donations in Room 6. Please make sure a completed donor form is attached to your
item.
2. Buy your tickets before auction night and save $5 per ticket!!
3. Please bring your catalog with you on auction night – Saturday March 1st.
4. Lastly, but most importantly, please continue to solicit and donate items for the
auction. We still need more items to auction in order to make our financial goal!
Please continue to donate and solicit right up until the auction!!
Domo arigato gozaimasu! Thank you very much for supporting the JBBP Tomodachi

Item #1900 Retail Value: Priceless Name: K- Room 110 - Ms. Tonai-Figueras - Pair of Japanese
Scrolls Description: The children from Ms. Tonai-Figueras' Room 110 have each painted a picture
of their favorite animal with a black and white, Japanese brush painting style. Student names are
beautifully written in Japanese next to their individual animal pictures. These have all been artfully
transferred onto the two scrolls, which are perfect for wall hanging room and decor. A special thank
you to Hiromi Kang for leading this project.
Item #1901 Retail Value: Priceless Name: K - Room 110 - Ms. Tonai-Figueras - Framed SelfPortrait Poster Description: The children from Mrs. Tonai-Figueras' Room 110 have created an
artistic poster with each child's self-portrait and corresponding photo beautifully arranged and
framed. Full of attitude, this will be an unforgettable treasure to keep and remind you of their
wonderful year in Room 110 kindergarten and their first Clarendon classmates. A special thank you
to Hiromi Kang for leading this project and to Randy Figures from Back to the Picture for donating
the frame.
Item #1801 Retail Value: Priceless Name: K - Room 110 - Ms. Tonai-Figueras - Individual
Abstract Canvas Paintings Description: Abstract painting was first introduced to the public in the
early 1900's, yet children from Room 110--with the help of their fabulous art teacher, Ellen
Weinstein--have really broken the mold with their colorful art. Each student has created a piece that
showcases his or her individual creativity and personality. Find your child's painting among all of the
individual paintings and portraits displayed at the auction. Take home your child's creation and
enjoy for years.
Item #1911 Retail Value: Priceless Name: K - Room 3 - Mrs. Morimoto - Framed Ink Drawing
Picture Description: The students of Mrs. Morimoto's Room 3 created twenty beautiful animal
drawings which were then mounted into two black frames (10 drawings in each frame). Resident
artist, Camilla Newhagen, introduced sumi ink drawing to the students in Room 3. Instead of using
the traditional brush as a tool, students were given sticks to create animals which gave the paintings
a different line and allowed for more playful character. After discussing animal differences,
individual characteristic and recognizable features, each child experimented and practiced creating
animals with sumi ink. A special thank you to Camilla Newhagen for leading this project.
Item #1910 Retail Value: Priceless Name: K - Room 3 - Mrs. Morimoto - Red Wing Quilt
Description: What a lovely creation from the children of Mrs. Morimoto's Room 3! A beautiful twin
size quilt named ‚''Red Bird's Wing" created and sewn by William Otani's grandmother, Rose Otani.
The quilt adorns drawings taken from the kindergartners' weekly book bag notebook depicting a
favorite character, scene or image. For a special touch, Mrs. Morimoto's comments appear in each
child's quilt square, too. The quilt is named, "Red Bird's Wing" since one of the triangle borders
surrounding a student's drawing of "This is a Redbird" is rotated like a wing. The quilt truly captures
the wonderful JBBP kindergarten experience for all; grandparents, parents and children will fondly
remember their first year at Clarendon. A special thank you to Rose Otani for leading this project.

playgrounds, the tree tops and the signs and patterns around them. The magnet board displays
some of our favorite selections from the great photos the children took that week. Project oversight
