Subject: Improved Revenues for Funding for Good Causes
PRETORIA. 4 February 2016. The National Lottery Operator (Ithuba) has
contributed over R520 million to good causes in the first 7 months of operation
from 1 June to 31 December 2015. This key milestone will result in funding
being made available for the Arts, Culture, National Heritage and
Environment, Charities, Sports and Recreation Sectors.
Apart from benefiting good causes, National Lottery players won prizes over
R868 million in the first 6 months of operations for the third National Lottery
In the same period of operations, the National Lotteries Commission (NLC)
has successfully regulated the National Lottery Operator to ensure
compliance with the licence conditions in order to protect the lottery players.
