Tour Steam Whistle Brewery
MEDIA RELEASE
Tour Steam Whistle Brewery – How fun is that!
(Toronto, ON, April 8, 2008) - Steam Whistle Brewing, an independent brewer
housed in Toronto’s historic John St. Roundhouse just south of the CN Tower,
welcomes visitors for entertaining brewery tours. Steam Whistle has successfully
focused on making one beer - a premium Pilsner that Canadians can be proud of.
They have developed a distinctive recipe using only four natural ingredients and
have packaged the beer in unique, green glass bottles. Steam Whistle has been
highly awarded and Canadians continue to select this Premium Pilsner time and
time again.
But look further. Steam Whistle offers more than a unique product. They are
committed to providing a meeting place where visitors will be entertained and
informed in a friendly, relaxed environment. Housed in the John Street
Roundhouse, a building that functioned as a Canadian Pacific Rail steam
locomotive repair facility when built in 1929, Steam Whistle Pilsner offers a taste
of Canadian history.
Tours provide the public a chance to experience firsthand the process of crafting
a quality brew. Beginning with the story of Steam Whistle - its founding, the
people, and the history of The Roundhouse - the tour winds through the brew
house, the fermentation vessels and the bottle-shop, providing a close-up look at
how Steam Whistle Pilsner is made. The tour ends in the Retail store where
energetic and beer savvy tour guides entertain questions while pouring samples
of Steam Whistle Pilsner.
Tours are offered Monday through Saturday every 30 minutes starting at 1pm
with the last tour at 5pm. On Sundays, tours run every 30 minutes starting at 1pm
with the last tour running at 4pm. The basic tour costs $8 per person and includes
a taste of our Pilsner, the Steam Whistle Comic Book and a souvenir glass or a
bottle opener. Or, take the tour but select from other souvenir choices: $14 for the
6-pack tour; and $24 for the 12-pack tour. Tours are given on a first-come-firstserved basis on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Reservations for
groups of 10 or more are accepted Monday to Thursday.
While on tour, you can enjoy month-long art exhibits by local artists to add to your
experience of this interesting Toronto landmark. You may also hear about coming
events at the brewery and plan to return: Steam Whistle has a full calendar of
cultural events and charitable fundraisers hosted in their unique party rooms.
Steam Whistle Brewing opens its doors to more than 65,000 visitors a year, and
invites you to be one of them. For directions, reservations and general inquiries,
