CASE STUDY E n e r g y & R e s o u r c e C o n s e r v a t i o n SLEEMAN BREWERIES LTD. INTRODUCTION Sleeman Breweries Ltd. is one of the fastest growing premium brewers in North America. Enviro-Stewards Inc. conducted energy & resource conservation assessments at Sleemanʼs Guelph, Ontario and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia facilities. Enviro-Stewards was able to identify feasible opportunities to save $330,000 per year with a 0.9 year return on investment (at Guelph facility alone). SLEEMAN / DARTMOUTH Enviro-Stewards conducted a water and product conservation assessment at Sleemanʼs Dartmouth, Nova Scotia facility. As presented at Environment Canadaʼs Atlantic Brewery & Winery Pollution Prevention Workshop, the assessment identified opportunities to reduce water consumption by 10% to 18% and to recover an additional 200,000 L/year of product. A subsequent Energy Efficiency (E2) assessment identified opportunities to reduce electrical and thermal energy consumption by 14% and 7%, respectively (with less than a 2-year return on investment). SLEEMAN / GUELPH Enviro-Stewards completed a water and thermal energy conservation assessment at Sleemanʼs Guelph, Ontario facility. The study identified feasible opportunities to reduce water and natural gas consumption by 8% and 20%, respectively (projected savings $330,000/year with 0.9 year return on investment). www.enviro-stewards.com
